Here's some hints: Search & dwnld techniques (some hints): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...4545#post94545

Try to stay clear of T3 connections for music, they are reknown for corrupt files.

Try to choose the search results to download that have many sources (the 2nd column in the search results with a # at top of column will show how many people are sharing the same file.)

It is not compulsory to share. But by sharing it allows you to connect to more people. Also some people filter out those that don't share a minimum no. of files be that one, 20, 50 or 500. So you wouldnt be able to dwnld from such people. (Remember that p2p stands for peer to peer sharing.)

To share, you need to create a folder with files you're willing to share. Put all your share items inside this folder. Then whilst Limewire (LW) is open, go to LW's menu Tools-Options & Sharing & select the Add button. Direct it to where your shared folder is & select that. After selecting press both the Apply & OK buttons for it take take immediate effect. You will now notice in the bottom left side of LW that you are sharing # no. of files. Then go to LW's Library window (click Library tab), press the Refresh button. You will see your shared folder listed at the top left of the swindow. If you click onto the folder, its contents will display to the right.

If you want to also share your dwnld folder, go to Tools-Options & Saving & make a note of the name, location & path of this folder. Now go to Tools-Options & Sharing & add this folder.

If you wish to share your own music. If the music is on CD, well you'll need a program that can extract these songs & then for it to convert to mp3. Good quality mp3's range b/w 192-320 kbps. Medium quality from 120-160, fair quality down to 90 & poorer quality is 30-90 kbps.
