The java 6.1.u1 is causing issues so roll back to this one & that should fix it for you OK.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.
Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.

When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.
