LW doesn't spread viruses, but there are heaps of infected files being shared on the network. Sometimes people share infected files out of ignorance & sometimes companies deliberately share bad files:

You need to make sure that you're using a good AV (antivirus) program. Keep it updated & use it to scan any files that you download -
before you open them
