This may be a silly question but isn't there a consumer group/organisation in the US that rates the best insurance companies, especially for the treatment of their customers.

Saying that, I was watching "Judge Judy" last week (it's three years behind in the UK, i.e. we are watching 2008 cases). Anyway, Judge Judy advised a plaintive to sue her insurance company because the reason they gave for not paying her insurance claim, which they put in writing, was clearly illegal.

Thinking about it a bit more, nearly every US drama, film or comedy I see on TV with an insurance sketch always points out how difficult it is to get that insurance company to pay a legitimate claim, e.g.The Incredibles.
