... and of course if it were ported to OS X, then it would be easily ported to *bsd, and then perhaps linux.

But xolox is written in Delphi. I don't think delphi is portable. Anyone here know differently?

Why use AIM, MSN, Yahoo IM, ICQ, or some other proprietary, centralized IM tool? Just get yourself a jabber client-- any one you like-- and a pick a free jabber server-- anybody on any jabber server with any jabber client can communicate with anyone else on any other jabber server. Jabber is an open, distributed, communications standard-- the irc of IM, if you will. I use psi at http://psi.affinix.com . And my jabber server has gateways to AIM, Yahoo, and the others, which I'm only using till my friends finish switching. Go to http://www.jabber.org for more info.
