Bearshare Errod code #170
 

My Bearshare comes up for 1 second & then fails on a message that has a reply OK to it..I reply ok & it just fails again, I believe it is supposed to rebuild its self.......can anyone be of help, I have to E-mails to Bearshare support with no reply..tia

ps..Err #170 > Fatal Error: Unable to load Library database.
Reason: File exists:Database file is corrupt: Stale journal:mad:

I get this same error. In fact it was why I joined. I've uninstalled and reinstalled bearshare a few times, and it didn't help. I have scanned all my media and found nothing, so I'm not sure where to go next.

Go to C:\Program Files\BearShare\db and delete library.db and library.2.db.
rename library.db.lastgoodload.bak and library.2.db.lastgoodload.bak to replace the originals.
If there is a journal file, delete it too.

That should do it. If not, delete the rest.

So I delete those two files, and then go in, and create new files with those new names? I was thinking rename, but if I delete those others, there will be nothing to rename? Am I following?

If the lastgoodload.bak files are not there then don't worry about it.
If they are, use them.
