When will BearShare implement the ultrapeer protocol?

Unregistered February 20th, 2002 01:10 PM

Baby steps my friend, baby steps. Vinnie and company are doing things in small steps, to minimise the affect that BearShare has on the rest of the gnutella network, since it is one of the major clients out there.

2.4 was made to introduce file hashes (in preparation for 2.5). 2.5 will come with swarmed downloads (the latest 2.4 beta is very good at swarming from all clients). 3.0 will incorperate the LimeWire's implementation of Ultrapeers, instead of the Defender type of technology, so that no clients will be left out.

How to look stupid..Lesson 1

scud,if you already knew the answer to your question, what was the point in asking it? makes you look a bit simple really, doesn't it?
Unregistered was trying to be helpful, and in doing so answered your question fully, with a few other bits of info thrown in for good measure.......be more appreciative.

You seem to cease the comprehension of the matter. I asked when will BearShare implement the ultrapeer protocol, simple question. I did not ask a question, for example: How do I download movies off of BearShare faster. Those are totally two different tones and situations. He answered with the second tone. In which I had a plausible question to ask. Vinnie has said he will implement the ultrapeer protocol exactly how LimeWire has done it. I was simply asking when. Again of course I know you cannot simply add a ton of new technologies to the network all at the same time. Of course, it will be implemented in the future. Its called asking for details. Unreg, should have answered the question without the first sentence.

In my last sentence, I replied:

"3.0 will incorperate the LimeWire's implementation of Ultrapeers"

Did you miss that? I confused you by adding in all that other information? You decided to blast out your intelligent rebuke because you were to lazy to read my reply completely? Apprently so, or you're just being too self-righteous. I don't care either way.

Anyway, 3.0 is the version Vinnie stated (on bearshare.net) will include ultrapeer support. Things have changed, though, on the gnutella network (Morpheus flood)... so BearShare will probably get it's ultrapeer support sooner.
