Sigh... yes, another who cannot connect I just downloaded LimeWire this after-noon. I was hoping someone could help me. For some reason, the Quality is always stuck on "Connecting" and therefore, will not let me download apparently. I am completely clueless about firewalls and would appreciate help from anyone. Also, once I installed LimeWire, another peer-to-peer downloading program I have (DC++) stopped working. Is it not feasible to have two downloading programs??? |
Ok... sort of on track now! Well, I sort of have LimeWire on track now... But I have a few questions. 1. Is "Excellent" a good enough network connection? 2. When searching, what determines quality (that is, does quality reflect how LimeWire read the files or is there a place for peer-feedback)? 3. What does # mean in the serch results? (second column) 4. In my uploading list, what are "hits?" 5. Does LimeWire only use IPs instead of nicks? 6. Is there anywhere I can just go to get this information? |
1. Excellent is very good & not worth complaining about. You should be happy with it if you have the free version of LW. Turbo charged is the best & is where the quality bar is coloured in blue. (The pro version is generally permanently turbo charged.) 3. # means that's how many sources of the file have been found. eg: if there's 8 in that column, then your search has found 8 people with that identical file. 4. Hits are the no. of times those particular files of yours have been registered in a person's search results. By the way it is not advisable to run 2 p2p apps simultaneously. Otherwise they'll compete for upld & dwnld bandwidth, & computer ram & processing power. Perhaps another member would like to answer your other questions & even add more to my answers. Here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. And don't use the Resume function upon a large no. of files. It can cause kaos to LW's all-round efficiency. |
