Default Connection Problem- Zonealarm

I couldn't connect , even after I turned off my Norton Firewall and Xp firewall. After I went to "Program Control" in Zonealarm and checked Limewire as "allow", green checkmarks I was able to connect. How this helps someone.

I don't know what you're talking about

"5 pages into the download"...what are you trying to download? What do you need a password for??

Are you a Pro customer, trying to download LW Pro???
If you are, & you bought Pro less than 6 months ago, go here & enter the email address that you used to buy Pro (don't post it on the forum!!).

Angry Connection

I've never had an issue with connections, but for some reason tonight it will not connect. i get the smallest bar on the connection status bars and thats as far as it goes. ive disabled all firewalls and everything i know that would prevent a connection.

Default can't connect

All Limewire does is say that it is connecting to a server, but never does. Here are my details.
1. Limewire 4.14.10
2. Java 1.6.0_03
3. Vista Premium
4. Zone Alarm (with LimeWire allowed in progam control)
5. disk space is 273 gb free
6. Ram is 2 gb
7. I have a wireless 512 k connection to internet it is with Clearwave and I was able to get the 'Your test worked!' from the link http://www3.limewire.com:6346/
8. My router is a Belkin wirless G F5D7230-4 and my modem is an Alvarion Breeze Access 824702
9. The router is UPnP enabled.
10. Limewire use to work on my old XP system but now doesn't with my new Vista system. It has been probably 8 months since I have been connected though.
11. I am using AVG Antivirus and CounterSpy and ZoneAlarm.
12. I am connecting from my house.
13. I am in the USA.

Thanks for your time

This has worked for a few Vista users: Uninstall LW (start > all programs > LW > uninstall) & ZA. Now reinstall LW first. Finally, reinstall ZA. Installing LW before ZA seems to be the trick
Double check that the Windows firewall's off.

In LW file > disconnect. Wait 10 minutes, then file > connect.

If you still can't connect, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. You'll need to show hidden files & folders to be able to find the preferences folder. There are instructions here.
LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista
You'll know if you deleted that folder properly - when you start LW, you'll go through the setup wizard again.

Try port forwarding for your router, the instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Belkin F5D7230-4
Don't miss the step of setting up a static IP address. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router setup should all be the same number

If it's still not working, try the fix here (replacing gnutella.net file).
all of a sudden will not connect (a fix to try)
Those instructions are for XP, but you'll need to open LW's preferences folder called LimeWire...the same one that you deleted earlier. Then remove & replace the gnutella.net file there.

uninstalling and reinstalling worked as long as I don't reinstall ZA. Everytime I install it, LW stops working. I guess I will try another firewall. Any ideas?

Have a look at the link below, there are a few suggestions for free firewalls.
Top free firewall for Windows Vista - SWI Forums

I use Comodo firewall (I have XP), AFAIK it's Vista compatible.
