Default Magnet link?

I'm fairly new to this (but learning quickly) and I have been trying to send a file to my son, we are both running LW 4.8.1. I highlight the file to send, right click and scroll down to Magnet details for file and click. All I get is;

580 Server Error

"This Web page could not be opened. A connection to the page could not be made. Please click the Reload or Refresh button to try again."

Am I doing something wrong ... do I need to swich something on?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
Piet

Merged info from other post

I have tried to create a Magnet Link and all I get is an error message;

>>580 Server Error
This Web page could not be opened. A connection to the page could not be made. Please click the Reload or Refresh button to try again.<<

I've tried everything I can think of but without success. Perhaps you guys have had the same problem in the past ... solved it, and can now help me?
I have a Router (Speedtouch 570)
Windows XP Pro
McAfee Firewall (from AOL)
AOL 9.0 Broadband.

Thanks,
Piet

Don't know if it's related in any way but found these links: A, B, & C

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? I'm only guessing it might be firewall related. Configure your firewall to allow LW full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml It sounds like the feedback is being blocked.

Thanks for all your hard work LOTR, much appreciated.
I did the test ... it came up False
I also checked all the links that you gave me ... sadly to no avail.
I think I may have to look for another avenue ... one that isn't quite so complex

Again, many thanks,
Piet

So did you configure your firewall? For your incoming to be false in your bug report, then you have something at least partially blocking LW.

Did you click on the links I gave above? There might be some points there that help to explain your problem.
