Also, on the top of the screen it says
LimeWire:Enbling Open Information Sharing
What does that mean? is that why i can't find anything?

birdy June 25th, 2006 07:34 PM

It's ok, LW always says "enabling open info sharing". For your no results problem, follow the advice in the thread below:)

I checked that, but its not the problem. What it says when i try to search is

LimeWire is currently connecting to the network... your search may not return many results until you are fully connected...

I don't understand why its not already connected, its been running for atleast 1/2 an hour, is threre anything i can do for that? HOw do i get it to be fully connected?

You need to read through this. All of it.
Connection problems? Check here first!

Make sure that you're only running 1 firewall & that it's set up to allow LW access. Do the port 6346 test & see what reslut you get. Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)? What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Searches don't return any results

Hey, I had the same problem as you and I couldn't figure what was wrong since none of the answers seemed to apply to my case. My searches never returned any results. I went to File and disconnected, and the green bar (only the smallest one was green!) on my connection thing went down, and then I connected again. When I searched the same song, it immediately returned me 20 hits, and the connection bar was completely green, all five of them. It also only took about 2 seconds literally for the search to finish loading, whereas the last time, it took about 5 minutes. So try disconnecting, then connecting and searching again.

I have been having the same problem - no results from searches but disconnecting anf re-connecting hasn't helped.

tbescapee,

Is your LW connected (all green/blue connection bars)? If it is, try the fixes below.

1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

2. Problems with the search

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.

i unistalled and installed it 3 times no but same thing....anyone help~??

if it helps, in my limewire folder in program files, there are loads of java thingys??

birdy November 10th, 2007 11:49 PM

akala,

Can you take a screenshot of all those files so that we can see what's happening?

Had you opened a newly downloaded file just before this started happening? If so, can you remember what type of file you'd downloaded (don't name the file, just tell us what type it was - wma, mp3 etc)?

There's a fix for the popping up thing here, you can give it a try. The original poster in that thread also did a system restore after running the BFU & found that it helped...so give that a try as well.

I'd also update your AV & scan your computer. There's another link in that thread with further links to online scans if you want to try one of those. Please let us know if a scan finds any malware. If you're still having problems, go to one of the specialist malware removal sites mentioned in that thread.
