Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning.

10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit.

13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Default Firewall issues.

I just downloaded the newest limewire, and I cannot download and have the brick wall icon. I've gone through all the firewall and connection threads, and nothing solved my problem. Here's the info that is asked for in the others... Any help would be great.

Windows Xp (SP2)
Limewire 4.12.3
Java 1.5.0_06
Windows Firewall
Belkin Wireless G Router (Model # F5D7230-4)
Cogeco Internet
Cable Connection
@ Home
Sharing with others, but routers hooked up to this machine.
I've had limewire for a while, and just downloaded the newer version and got the problem.

You probably need to give LimeWire permission to access the Internet in the windows firewall.

Did you by any chance have portforwarded your Limewire port in the previous version. If so check if your port has changed when you installed the new version.

Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall config

Also if your exeptions were added for the older version. Your firewall may not recognize the new version as the same program. Try deleting the exeptions for Limewire and adding new ones

If you haven't portforwarded Limewire then make sure UPnP is enabled

I recommend using either an old Limewire version without BitTorrent support or Phex for Gnutella, Azureus is BitTorrent. None of this Limewire Gnutellatorrent hybrid crap.

Those ports ??? There should only be one port. Listening port and forwarded port should be the same port

Remember to forward both TCP and UTP

Is Limewire connected now ?

The downloads can be just unlucky choices.

When you first installed did you allow contentfiltering ?

Or accidently messed up the licence issue ?

BTW are these downloads started while using the old version ?

If so Check the incomplete folder in limewire and see if they are red. If they are then try and cancel all the downloads then highlight them in the incomplete folder and press resume. There is a slight chance that they never start due to some curruption happening when switching versions (they will start again from scratch if so). But often it works.

If they start from scratch cancel them. Then delete entire incomplete folder while limewire is closed. A new one will be created next time you start Limewire. Just search for them again same way you did before.

You have to post all the info. Same as pbecker13 did in his first post. Or else we can sit here and guess what the problem might be

Also post how you have tried to fix the issue before posting.

Yes limewire is connected. I doubt it's unlucky choices, because no downloads will connect. Yes I did allow contentfiltering. Should I not have? And I don't think I messed up the licence issue. And I tried deleted the incomplete folder with no luck of my downloads working.

Now were getting somewhere.

I have never had it on and am not going to try it either. if there is no option to disable it (try reverting pop-ups to default if there is no other option to do this) If that doesn't work either then

Delete Limewire preferencefolder while closed. (.limewire) if you can't find it use search on forum

Then when youre asked on setup if you want to use contentfiltering say "NO WAY"

That may very well be the root of your problem

Now this is puzzles me as well. Starting to run out of ideas.

Go to tools>options>bug reports and copy/paste it here. You have to use Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C to copy as right-clicking does not bring up Windows commands in Limewire

What to copy/paste. :S There is just an example bug report, and the options of how i want to send them.

Well I got a couple songs to download. My limewire apparently just doesn't live download any acoustic versions of Round Here by Counting Crows. None of these will still ever connect. If it's not too much work, wanna try downloading one and see if it will connect? It says there was 80 users or so, so I don't know why It wouldn't. But this song still will not start downloading, no matter which one I try to download. :S Everything else seems to work fine.
