Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. | Anyone know if there are any issues using the BT Voyager 2091 router? This is a wireless router, but I have it connected via ethernet cable and no other devices are connected wireless or otherwise. Anyone know if this router need configuring or should it perform ok with LW straight out of box? Im using LW ok - but not sure if it could be a lot better. I'm supposed to be on BT opt 3 - up to 8 meg connection, what kind of speeds should I be seeing? Any help/advice most welcome. Many thanks. System: P4 2.6 / XP pro sp2 / 1gb ram / Norton IS 2006 fully installed with all options on & LW permitted. Frank |

I'm not sure it supports UPnP. Unless you have one with new firmware which does support it. Telnet into your device & check the options. If there is none, then port forwarding is the go. See Port Forwarding for the BT Voyager 2091. Most important step is the 1st which is setting up a static ip. The port LW normally uses is port 6346. However you can choose a much higher port such as between 49152 - 65535 such as 64049. But whichever port you choose, you must add the same port number in LW's advanced firewall option as described on that link. If you're using NIS, make sure XP firewall is disabled. NIS & XP FW's are known to clash & cause problems. Also results in less security with both running.

Many thanks - I'll check that. In LW's options/tools, the port to listen on is set quite high - I cant remember what exactly and Im not with the pc at the mo. As I said, it is communicating and downloading - I just wondered if this could be optimised for best performance. I was using a Linksys ADSL modem before.

frankf, you can only get max speeds with BT if you both live within half a mile of the local exchange AND you are connecting to the point at which the BT line enters your house. If you plug into an extension point, for example, that will reduce your download speed. The speed is also affected according to the time of day. Try downloading at 3am compared to 3pm and you will notice a massive difference. What speeds are you getting? I live within 500 yards of my local exchange (I'm with BT too) but I run an extension line to my computer. My speeds vary from 6.5MB at best down to 1.5MB at worst.

For BT I would also suggest changing the port from the normal Gnutella - 6346 to 6348 to another number as BT seem to block those ports during much of the day. Nothing official of course, just what I've noticed...

Hi Midnight - thanks for that info - the BT guy told me much the same when I was upgrading my contract to option 3 back in June, that you need to be almost living on top of the exchange for max speed. Connecting to the master socket would be the best but its at the wrong end of the house, so I have to go via extension. As I mentioned earlier, I cant remember what port LW is listening on but its a 5 figure number, which is different from when I was running LW 4.9 (I'm on 4.12 x at the mo) and had a Linksys modem instead of this router - the port then was the famous 6346. BT are running DLM on the line for the next few days, so I'll monitor and see how it goes. If anyone has any more tips on increasing speed using this router I'd be very grateful. Many thanks for replies. Frank

I am new to computers. I am intellectually challenged so please be explicite. I have a highspeed internet connection and as my pension is very limited I cannot afford limewire pro. Can I share my speed with limewire for access to limewire pro? Limewire has become my life. thankyou from Joe.
