These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. | senso, We'll need some details in order to help you. See the info that rufuscodd gave? That's what we need. rufuscodd, Pipex are known to throttle p2p, this is probably effecting your ability to connect ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire http://forums.vnunet.com/thread.jspa...threadID=81410 You could try changing ports (try port 64049). Within LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Here you'll see LW's listening port & can change it, just click Apply to save the change. Any ports allowed thru a firewall or forwarded thru a modem/router must be the same number as listening port. If Pipex are blocking p2p ports, there's not much that will help...you could try the suggestions below but there's no guarantee it will change anything Your router has a firewall. If it supports UPnP, enable it within the modem & then choose the UPnP option within that LW firewall config page. If using UPnP doesn't help, you could port forward. Look for your router in the list at the site below & then follow their instructions. Don't forget setting up a static IP if it's included in the instructions. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm

| Hi there, I'm new here so I'm sorry if I cause any problems, but here's my info. 1. OS version?-------XP Home Editon 2. What firewalls you have?-------Mcaffe 3. How much ram?-------512mb of ram 4. Hard Disk space available?------9GB 5. Connection type?------DSL/highspeed 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?----Linksys WRT54GS 7. Where are you trying to connect from?------House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have?----- 4.12 9. Who is your ISP provider?------Foxvalley net 10. Do this simple test for us. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs?----I'm on my laptop, on wireless. My brother's computer is directly connected to the router -- dunno if that's what you're asking, but yeah. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.-----This is a first try, never used limewire before. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?------Yes Now, I've tried everything on this thread. I've disabled all my normal firewalls, and even did the port forwarding...And it's still not working. I'm only getting one tiny little green bar of connection, and I don't really think it's connected at all. My ISP is a small local thing, so I'm not sure if it blocks p2p but if it does, anyone know how I can get around it? Thanks for your help~. |

| I goggled your ISP and I cant find anything saying that they block p2p.. When you Port Forwarded what instructions did you follow and did you set up your static IP correctly.. Are these the instructions you used... http://www.portforward.com/english/r...S/Limewire.htm

| Okay, yes. I believe I set the static ip properly -- and yes, those are the instructions I used. The only thing I can think of, is that the screen shot they give for the security page on the setup -- it has an enable/disable firewall option. My screen is showing no such option. see: This is the one displayed on the instructions page: ![]() and this is the one I actually get on my screen: ![]() I'm not sure why that is, though, and how to disable it if I can...Um. Yeah. |

| Found out that my D link router is not very good with UPnP so went down the port forwarding route. Followed the instructions and way hay here we go. Brilliant, downloading like a M***** F****. Five green bars, no brick wall, was even getting 40 to 60 k speeds. ( dont know if thats good or not, was for me). Have had the PC on since then downloading day and night until... er indoors turned it off, now we're back to square one, one bar, brick wall no connecting. Tried port forwarding again numerous times and numerous different ports, nothing. Then i sussed out that Pipex use dynamic IP's so when the missus shut down it put a large spanner in my works. Now im trying to assign a static IP but the last piece of information i need to do this is the address of the DNS that Pipex use. Called them, spoke to a bloke about what im trying to do, (he even told me that he has to do something similar for his Bit Torrent Client but knows nothing about Limewire). Anyway the long and short of it is that Pipex use a Dynamic DNS and he couldnt give me anything to help me... Does this mean that i am saying goodbye to Limewire as its clearly using up Hard Drive space at the moment like an ageing unwell dog.. Any thoughts you very technical people out there?? |
