These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

| Does anyone have anymore adive why I can't get uploads while my Norton firewall is on. I configured my firewall to permit all for lime wire. My modem doesn't have a NAT firewall. And I tried forcing my ip but that didn't help. IF I disable my firewall uploads start within a few minutes but always say transfer interupted. |
| ||||
| Which OS version is that? If it's XP of course it will have XP's firewall: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Which version of Norton is that? I've heard of issues with Norton's firewall. UKBobboy seems to have reasonable experience with it: Firewall playing up after limewire closes If I may say, the most recent LW version 4.4.1 has better auto firewall configuration. |
| |||
| I'm running windows xp sp2 with NIS 2004. I followed your instructions using this link. Is your XP firewall turned on or off? Did you configure it for LW: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml And it seemed to fix some of the problems. I'm receiving uploads now but every upload is saying transfer interupted. Do you know what could be causing that. |
| ||||
| It means you're probably still firewalled from incoming requests. After LW has been on for at least 30 mins, Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/false? If it's false it means there's a firewall somewhere. It's either a computer firewall or a modem NAT firewall that may require port forwarding (opening port 6346 for LW.) Don't panic about that thought b/c if you were playing net games or video conferencing you'd need to open many ports. |
| ||||
| After you open LW it can take a while for LW to be ready to accept incoming b/c it's predisposed/preoccupied with loading shared/incomplete files & trying to manually connect to each incomplete one. That's why I suggested to wait at least 30 mins after you open LW. Depending on the no. of incomplete & shared files it can even take much longer to load & settle for some people. eg: in Mac osx it takes 10 mins to load about 3k files. But if I use Mac OS 9 it takes over 2 hrs to load less than 2 k files. lol Quote:
The only other obstacle I can think of is SP2. Have a look at the SP2 Stickys HERE! |

| I contacted my local provider and they said I definitly don't have a built in firewall. I've been running LW for a few hrs now and still keep getting transfer interupted for every upload. Thanks for your help and if you find anything new that might fix this let me know. Thanks |
| |||
| Still no luck yet. After running LW all morning every upload has transfer interupted. I was reading a post yesterday about setting your incoming and outgoing ports for NIS. Does anyone know where I can find any info on this. |
| |||
| I think your right it's not NIS 2004 causing the problem because I disabled it to see what would happen but same problems. ISP isn't blocking or filtering. How do I double check that NIS is getting full access to port 6346. I already have LW permit all is that what your talking about? |
| ||||
| That is correct. Just out of curiosity are you running any other programs at the same time, and do you have the WindowsXP sp2 firewall disabled.

| Was it this about NIS2005? Firewall playing up after limewire closes Did you know SP2 reduces the no. of simultaneous connections? Taking XP firewall out of the picture temporarily might determine if that's playing a part in this. |
| |||
| I am running XP SP2 with XP's firewall turned off running NIS 2004. This was the post I was looking for: have you set up a "rule" in your firewall to allow any computer access (inbound and outbound) to port 6346? Although, in your original posting, you said that you have set up LW to access the required port I believe inbound queries come in via this port as well. So you may have to tell NPF 2004 (the firewall portion of NIS 2004) to allow inbound and outbound connections as well. You will find instructions on how to do this on the Symantec Website. |
