Can't get downloads on to the computer

It was working fine, but suddenly I can't get the things that have been scanned from other computers to download on to my hard drive. I have even tried erasing the whole thing and redownloading it. Please help!:o

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue globe icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

Mac OSX

I have a MAC so I don't know if that has any relevence on the situation. Umm yes there is a brick wall in front of the blue globe? I went to the firewall protection section in preferences but my firewall was not on. :(

Then the problem must be your modem/router. What brand & model do you have? (eg: Linksys BEFW11s4)
Most high speed modems & routers & wireless devices have NAT firewalls built in.

Its a belkin54g. The weird thing is that it was working fine before. This has only happened in the last 2 weeks.

Well to my knowledge, the Belkin routers need manual port forwarding. Oh I just discovered they do have the UPnP option but it's not easy to find. See http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...f5d7630-4a.asp as this will also apply to your model. See about half way down the page.

Failing UPnP is manual port forwarding. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm but you need to set up a static ip to do this which for osx can be done like this http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01180p or http://www.sonic.net/support/ss/mac/osx_staticip/

I am computer jargon illiterate. So you say I have to change my router info? This may not be good. This will stop the little wall from being on the globe.

Lord of the Rings April 7th, 2006 07:15 AM

Yes you don't want the brick wall to be on the globe. If it is, you won't be able to use LW properly if at all. Sometimes it might work, sometimes not. So you need to make an exception in your firewalls for LW to have free access. But the remainder of the firewall remains. Try to find the UPnP option on your router.
