Update of TCPIP.SYS

Microsoft released a new TCPIP.SYS with build 5.1.2600.2892 on the
yesterday's patch-day. The current Patcher 2.23d is still capable of
changing the half-open tcp limit. But you need to reapply the patcher to
set a higher limit to the new version.

Thanks for that one, I've just applied it and indeed, the update yesterday changed it....

Gotta reboot now to get it work......;) .......(well, you're already on my blessing list, so no changes there....:D )

Viva Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD y OS X! lol

Seriously, I hate MS and only have Linux and OSX on my computers ;)

That is another exemple why.

I would up grade to mac osx but my computers all have windows. I found a copy of mac osx for $17.77. That's cheap! But can I put mac osx on windows computers?

ZeroTruths June 22nd, 2006 04:49 PM

HAHA! Yeah right...
But you can do it the other way around: Put Windows on a Mac

garbagefan2 June 27th, 2006 11:32 AM

It was a used mac osx copy. I think it was old. I think it was tiger.

explain and help

hi there,
i'm new to all this stuff.
please explain me what does 'half-open tcp limit' mean ?
how does it help?
will it help me in downloading faster ?

i use win xp sp2
256 mb ram
64 kbps connection speed and can download @ of 8 to 10 KB/s
cable connection

is there any chance i can increase this speed ?

Firefly2002 July 28th, 2006 10:29 AM

If you've got a 64 kbps connection, that indicates you've got ISDN. Is that true? If so, you can double the speed by using two phonelines instead of one, though I'm not sure if that's possible with all ISDN modems.

Also, upgrading to 512 MB of RAM would help a lot- perhaps not with downloads, but with overall system speed, since WinXP usually likes a lot more.
