Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them

We need to post viruses we find in a thread. 72.88.214,86 has a file called green grass high tides which WILL attempt to steal your information you type in on sites and POOF all gone. If you don't already have, I recommend upgrading your Anti-Virus software to Norton 2008 without it I wouldn't have found this virus. :bangh:

How can people be so low to try to steal your info?:bangh:

The size of the virus file ? ;)
It's easy for spammers to put any name to a file. They can automate it using BOTS. And feed back a virus file with the name that the user requests in their searches. That's a part of how these spammers work. Beware of Fake files in search results (click on blue link)

Some handy tips on avoiding virus spam: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-t...ance-tips.html

Below is a combination of junk files found in a few searches, take note of their sizes & treat them suspiciously. Remember to ignore most files under 2,000 KB (2MB) as well as the ones shown. ;) The bitrate shown was for the first file in the tag. Spam generally has limited tag information if it has any. Audio files such as mp3's that do not show tags are generally (not always) spam. _ 5,611 KB, _ 3,787 KB, _ 3,462 KB _ are viruses so BEWARE !!! _ Who to blame for the viruses? See link above about Fake files in search results. Did you vote for the politicians who support this hypocrisy of international terrorism; spreading of computer viruses is illegal in most countries around the world, and yes including illegal in the the USA; do you vote for Terrorists?  :yikes:  :wasntme:

(Note: All sample images were whilst using LW 4)

Below is junk found when searching DVD under Video type search, typical spammed results. Some of the larger files 'might' be legitimate but doubtful, probably porn spam or 'something else'. Remember NOT to get confused between KB and MB. All video files should be MB. Tips on downloading videos see Movie download issues (click on blue link).

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...-dvd-junk2.gif

Below is a search for Video files using the Video type search. Shown are some typical junk file sizes you can expect to see. Notice after right-clicking the user (highlighed via blue selection line), the results are divided up between 3 users, 3 junk files each. That's quite typical same computer spamming multiple copies of spam.

Attachment 4346 (click to see sample image)

Below is a search for video files using the All Types Search, notice the extra junk spam in search results. The one selected (highlighted in blue) has spammed 45 results for the one file listing in search results ... just a single computer or network working under the one ip address. __ (For instructions on how to filter out porn & some other common spam types via keyword, see both links within this post: Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results)

More typical video spam from a video type search:

Make sure you beware of those file sizes & set them as Junk. ie: right-click the file in search results & choose Mark as Spam.

Audio Type search junk sample file sizes. Title, Artist & Album search all resulted in same or similar results in finding junk files.

Attachment 4347 (click thumbnail to see larger size)

The sample below is a dual search using Album & Bitrate set at 320 kbps. Notice the junk shows 320 at the end of the name. Also notice the bit rate of the junk does not show kbps. The other result whited out was a stray I think. I would normally recommend adding .wma to your Word Filter, since there is far too much .wma junk around & many have not only viruses but also 'other' more dangerous things attached to them such as Rootkits.

Attachment 4348 (click thumbnail to see larger size)

Spam from 0 KB -> 869 MB size ! Below is a combination of a few searches showing both the sizes of spam from small up to large, and includes the 'typical' dupe names they frequently use. I coloured in a few of the file types simply to make it easier to identify spam sizes for those media types. The search id3 description tag for the wma file was the same for the other wma files too, ie: despite being spammed, it shows the file did not match the search criteria. I deliberately made the image wide to show mp3's which show the ...mp3 are not mp3's & shows up in the file type column, not the file name column. None of the mp3 files shown on this example image are true audio files. The larger ones around 3 & 5 MB in size are viruses!! The video files around 10 - 11 MB in size are porn spam. Almost all the zip & exe & rar files shown here are viruses. The 449.3 KB file might be named anything porn related adjoining your search term. You will notice one of the 449.3 KB files has same attribute as the fake mp3's. A ...mpg which shows it's a fake video file. This is not all the spam sizes out there. There are more, and more arrive on the scene so be careful. Remember for audio, no bitrate makes the file automatically suspicious. If an mp3 has a bit rate above 320 kbps, it is fake. (Unless it is a FLAC or Apple Lossless m4a file.) Generally such fake mp3's have no id3 tag, & often no information under the artist & album columns.

Other type of spam you will find. Especially music searches will have words following whatever it is you are searching. Here it is important to note the artificial words they put at the end of the words you searched (and no bitrate), the file size is not necessarily the obvious thing here. Example below:

Attachment 4941 (click thumbnail to see larger size)

Some new Junk seen in search results in late 2010. LimeWire or LimewirePromo is a common word to find in music searches. All types search you will find lots of zip & rar files. Torrent, Full, Update, Original, 2010 (the year) are words commonly used in spam. Below was a search using silly terms which attracted spam:

Attachment 5449 (click thumbnail to see larger size), and Video Spam in 2012: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...-spam-2012.gif This spam's title usually replicates your search term.

How should we treat politicians who support international terrorism? Spreading of computer viruses is an international crime. So how should we react to politicians who support the spreading of spammed viruses via p2p ( just like the black plague, except ' deliberately ' spread! ) _ Do some background checking on any politician you vote for in any election, and background research on who supports these spamming organisations, and who these organisations support politically. ;)

A simple example: Original owner of MediaDefender / now ARTISTdirect, Inc. sponsored politicians and vice versa

Due to these computer viruses, businesses worldwide are losing millions of dollars of income due to the virus's damaging effect, resulting in losses of jobs, etc.

(p2p = peer to peer = sharing from person to person; is not based around a server!)

Politicians who support illegal spreading of viruses around the world - did you vote?

Did you vote for or are you going to vote for a politician who supports illegal spreading of computer viruses around the world? It is a federal offence in USA, as well as most other countries around the world. Yet some politicians have close ties to the organisations that are spamming the p2p networks with compputer viruses. Some politicians have been sponsored/donated to by such organisations or members there of, to support their illegal activities. Spreading of computer viruses is akin to Terrorism. Just in the same way 'deliberate' spreading of viruses like the bird flu or any other potentially highly contagious & deadly human virus, would be viewed as terrorism.

Spreading of computer viruses around p2p networks has cost business world wide highly financially by having to close their systems or database damage, and losses of jobs as a result. As you can see, terrorists do not care who they harm along the way. And deep down neither do the politicians who support them, as long as they get to their political aims of remaining in office.

RIAA’s “Recording Industry Of America Inc. Political Action Committee” and MPAA’s “Motion Picture Association of America Political Action Committee” & other groups that support software companies & porn industries sponsor companies that spam p2p networks. More about this http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...h-results.html

So who are these Politicians who have received donations & support these organisations who spam viruses around the world?

Here's a starting point: Bart Gordon (Democratic Rep., Tennessee), Tom Feeney (Republican, Florida), Lamar Smith (Republican, Texas), Rep. Wexler (Democrat, Florida), Mary Bono (Democrat, California), Senator Joe Biden (D-Del)

Some politicians financially sponsored by the RIAA / MPAA (direct or/and advertising, personal donations in the names of its staff)

Some known Anti-p2p sharing politicians: Lamar Smith (Republican,Texas), who wants p2p sharers to be jailed for up to 10 years for sharing a few songs. Now really, is not spreading of computer viruses a more severe breach of law & more damaging world wide. Such politicians should themselves be locked away for a lifetime for supporting terrorist organisations.

These politicians are in favor of bringing in internet packet analysing, which is akin to listening in to everyone's personal telephone calls. Thus, nobody's email will be safe from being seen by .... ? Makes you wonder doesn't it. Would you vote for politicians who support these Bills to create laws allowing this, and draconian laws to jail people for simple file sharing?
