Need Help! WHy do I get limited download search results?

I'm new to this forum and was hoping I could find some help here. I have been using Limewire pro for quite some time now. I mostly use it for audio downloads. But here's my issue, when I am using Limewire pro while connected to my home wifi, my search results are always very limited and usually the options it gives me are no good. However, if I am using the wifi at my job or at a friend's house, my search results on Limewire pro always find what I am looking for and the options it gives me are nearly unlimited. Is this a firewall issue or something? please help...i really appreciate it:sos:

Go to your LW menu bar, Tools -> Advanced Tools, tell us what message it gives in regards to a firewall on the top left side of the window. :) Here is a sample image: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...all-status.jpg. Obviously as a Pro user you will be connected to 5 ultrapeers, not 3.

you are a leaf node.
you are not behind a firewall.
connect to 5 ultra peers

hmm sounds good to me. I'll see what Birdy has to say. I notice you are using RoadR. as ISP. I've seen others complain of issues of odd symptoms via them but nothing that seems to be a general issue with that ISP.

BTW the longer you leave LW on, the better it usually behaves.

Also, if you are getting poor search results, one way is to remove the longest connected Ultrapeer in the advanced tools window, wait for LW's connection to settle down & wait at least a few minutes, then try again for searching. Don't rush this process too fast. Then remove next UP if nothing improves.

Are you using the same version of LW at work/friends house as you're using when you connect from home?

In LW go Tools > Options > Search. Do you have the box checked to not let you download or upload files copyright owners request not to be shared? No need to check that box - we just need to know whether it's already checked within options.

Also within Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance, check the boxes to disable DHT, Ultrapeer capabilities & TLS > ok. Restart LW.

And try LOTR's advice about changing ultrapeers (hosts that you connect to in order to search).
In LW tools > advanced tools. In the Host column, you'll see UPs that you're connected to. Check in the Time column & see which ultrapeer has been connected for the longest time.
Right click on that host > Remove. That ultrapeer will be replaced by another. Now start a new search for your file.
If you don't see any improvement in results, remove the next ultrapeer. And so on...

Yes I am using the same version of Limewire @ work/my friends house as I use at my home.
I will try all your recommendations if the problem persists, but so far since i took LOTR's advice of "leaving LW open longer...the better it behaves," seems to have worked for me. As long as I keep LW running in the background, even if i'm not actively downloading, it seems to work much better now when i go to search and download audio files.
Thanks so much to both of you for your help, its greatly appreciated
