When I first moved into my current place limewire worked fine. Then all of a sudden, when I started limewire my internet would crash. It would occure about 30 seconds after I double clicked on LW and it tried connecting. I would have to then go reset my modem and wireless router, so frustrating. There are three of us that live here. Only one other person uses limewire and has the same issue with it crashing the internet when he tries. I've read through the forums and all the information is overwhelming and none of it seems to fit my problem. Anyone have any idea what the issue is and how to fix it?

If you need more info just ask and I'll try to provide it if I know the answer.

THANKS

I'm new to LimeWire and not very computer smart so I really would appreciate any help!!!

I've just installed LimeWire 5.3.6. It connects fine, but when I begin a search it doesn't come up with ANY results!

It says something like, "You must wait for LimeWire to finish loading before any results will be shown." (Not exact words)

So I've crossed my searches and there is a bar that pops up at the bottom just above where the connection is that says "Loading..."
(I hope that makes sense)

I waited for like an hour and it still didn't finish loading.

I've allowed it (is that how you say it?) in my firewall settings if thats any help?

My connection also goes up and down between "Weak connection," to "Full connection." Does that play a part in the problem at all? It mostly stays on, "Medium connection."

Hope someone can help! Don't use to much tech talk or you'lll confuse me! Thankyou!!!

so if my internet goes out for a minute, it will stall the connection of limewire.

when the internet comes back on, limewire doesn't automatically reconnect.

Even if I hit "fixed stalled" it doesn't reconnect, the only way I know how to do it, is to shut down limewire then reopen the program.

on the older versions, there used to be button or something that you could click on to retry connecting. I don't see that with this new version (5.3.6)

how can I restart the connection without shut down & reopen the program.

Hi~ I had limewire on my computer and was working fine until I hit the update buton. Once I updated I could no longer connect. I have had this problem in the past so why I hit the update button is beyond me. I don't remember how I fixed it in the past either. I did try it with my firewalls turned off with no such luck. I do use a router and I also moved so it may be that my isp provider does not allow p2p?? But I did hear of port forwarding and have no idea how to do it. If anyone thinks this would work please let me know and Im open to any suggestions (besides moving...lol). Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks a mill.

1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) XP
2. What firewalls you have ? i turned my secureit off so now im using just the standard windows
3. How much ram ? 80.5 gb i think is what ur asking
4. Hard Disk space available ? 37.1 gb
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ? I believe broadband but i use my router
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ? linksys wrt54g
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ? student accomodation
8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.? lw 5.3.6. and java 6
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ? the school.... mnscu??
10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ? taking too long to respond
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no i have my router encrypted
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.? 1st try with this version.... i updated
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ? yes
14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ? i believe so
15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.? on with exception
