windows xp
windows fire wall (set to allow frostwire)
2gb RAM
4.08gb available out of 53 (i can make more space)
cable
belkin 5df8d0
connecting from house
frostwire 4.8.0, java 1.6.0_17
comcast
my test worked
sharing connection with 3 other computers and ipod touch
im an experienced user, this is a new problem
no brickwall
idk if im port forwarding or weather or not UPnP is enabled (how to check?)
right now i am using the free verion of "avast!" as my virus protector
USA
the only thing ive changed is my router

ok, so ive used limewire and frostwire for years and never had this problem. when i open up FW it connects like normal, but when i search for something, i get very few results and they are almost always wma's. but when i close and reopen FW, it almost always works right, but only for a few minuets (like ten), then it stops finding music.

it happened after i upgraded FW, so i uninstalled, reinstalled, didnt work. i tried moving down to an older version (the one i have now) and it still doesnt work. i downloaded LW, and i get the same problem.

ive read these forums up and down and couldnt find a fix. i downloaded the list of "hostile hosts" and that wasnt the problem either.

i think its my router, but idk what to do about it.

Hi all,

I have serious problems whith the download of files :sos:

Nearly every time when I start to download a file which was found with the search function frostwire can't find the sources, even if I try to download the file immediately after the search function has found it. Probably 1 downlaod out of 100 works....:bangh:

The file should be avaiable for a while, after it has been found, shouldn't it

Browsing a host fails almost everytime:bangh:

Is this normal behaviour, or is this a problem with my PC or configuration

:giggle: Thanks for your information

HELP PLEASE!!!

I need help with this. We have Verizon dsl internet.

Its being split 3 ways, and my brother is downloading porn and other pointless movies to slow the internet up for everyone else, and He always has a pass or something on his comp so i cant get in on his comp and mess with it.

HE connects to our internet with a ethernet cord into the back of the hub that connects to the router.

Is there anyway to block a port or is there anyway to stop his computer from connecting to frostwire without actually going on his computer?

I'm brand new to the forum so hopefully someone can offer me new information to help my Frostwire as I've done TONS of searching for a solution, none have yet to get it working. :-(
I hope this information that I'm providing below will help (based on what I saw others requesting) and if anything needs clarification or if I've made a mistake, please let me know! Thank you!

(As a side note, my Frostwire program has not had any problems connecting until this afternoon, so I tried to do the update with still no results.)

OS version: Windows Vista
Firewalls: unsure
Ram: 3 GB
Hard Disk Space: 83 GB of 176 GB
Connection type: DSL
Modem & router brand name: ATT 2Wire202
Trying to connect from: Home
Frostwire Version: 4.18.3
Java version: unsure (just updated Java a few minutes ago)
ISP provider: ATT
Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? Have used Limewire then Frostwire for many years, just not a very tech savvy person. :-)
12. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? Yes, always do.
