If you paid for FrostWire click here, you have been scammed, FW is free

->FrostWire's only web site is http://www.frostwire.com

->FW is free, never pay for it

->You've been scammed? Try to get a refund ASAP!

Two ways:
1) ->ask and re-ask the scammers by email for a refund since they are providing a free product for a charge and that they are lying about 100% legal downloads (DON'T email frostwire@gmail.com, this is OUR legit address, not the scammers addresses)

2) ->if you just "registered" their service, try to stop the money transfer by calling your bank and telling them you've been scammed

Fight back! ->please file a complaint to the FBI with the scammers web site address: http://www.firstgov.gov/Citizen/Topi...et_Fraud.shtml (frostwire.com is NOT the scam website, link the one you registered onto)

Known scammers sites:
allcoolmusic.com
musicinc.cc
mymusicinc.com
mp3downloading.com
filesharingcenter.com
(tell us below if you know another offender)

It is true that GPL permits selling of software, HOWEVER
Those sites are illegal and fraudulous because:
-They do not give access to FrostWire source, as required by the GPL
-They lure new non-experimented users into thinking that a subscription gives them the right of legally downloading copyrighted works (Unlimited songs, movies, Legal) which is totally false, as other P2P activities, respect your country laws
-They don't tell what software users are getting (all 100% free software) and links to official websites
-They don't tell that the only thing they could charge, is the support over the usage of the softwares (a support often better on official web sites and forums)

How they work:
-Big scammers makes many websites to lure as many newbies as they can to pay (for exemple, mymusicinc.com, musicinc.cc and allcoolmusic.com have all the same owner), while softwares have only one official website.
-They pay Google many thousands of dollars for ads that are displayed accordingly to your search keywords or the subjects of a web page you visit.
-Once they get too many frustrated users on one site, the scammers close the site and reopen another one with a different address and different design.
-They make millions while legits software developers most often work for nothing.

Please spread the word and use this thread to share your experiences and exchange ideas about how to get a refund.

They do NOT deserve your money over OTHER's work. Do NOT encourage those parasites.

Fresh Meat

Well

It seems that the scammers are after fresh meat, i.e. using Frostwire to sucker in newbies and novices.

New users beware, parasites and predators are after your money by pretending to have unlimited films, music and games for you to legally download, all you have to do is join their (non-existent) lifetime club for a one off fee.

Truth is they have nothing, except a URL link to freebie P2P software, they want your money and your payment details, and nothing else.

Newbies, remember to research internet sites before parting with your money by checking discussion forums. Do not go by or take any notice of search engine lists, internet or magazine adverts or bogus recommendations.

Another Trusting Person

I'm going to my credit card company to get the money back. They will investigate but find that it is a scam and they are falsely advertising when they say it's all legal downloads.

I think the following link applies to at least one of these sites. The same principle can be applied: get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members) But also do as recommended by et voilà so these sites can hopefully be formally reported against & eventual action taken against. Also most credit card companies have some type of scam/fraud department so make sure you contact the correct department & with luck they'll refund your money.
I think FrostWire needs a section of its own here: Known Scam Sites to show which scam sites are known to offer it.

They almost had me at Hello!

I signed on with those morons today for $49.90. I just got off the phone w/my CC Co. and they replaced the $$ back into my account. Now I'm contacting whoever I can to force inquiries into the Co Coolmusic. Jerks!!! But I was the bigger one for believing what I read. Never again. Thank you all so much for posting this forum, I came across it by accident and you guys saved me that $49.90.

peepers777 November 10th, 2005 02:10 PM

well charge me or not, I'm not payin, when I went to the site and tried to find movies and such all they had was porno crap. Or fim bites. I could not find any of the songs I wanted, so they are total liars as far as I'm concerned and did not fullfill their end of the agreement. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for a service, as long as it does serve me.

Scammed

Well I guess I have to join the scammed club! I paid for a membership to mymusic.com ($33.90). I read the forum messages and immediately went to work to get refund. The following are the steps I took and received my refund within 24 hours.

11/09/05 approx. 11:00 am EST
1) Emailed customer support using my email client requesting full refund (support@mymusicinc.com). I copy and pasted all tranaction information from charge included in charge summary (including mymusic's transaction ID from their confirmation email)

2) Went back to website and submitted email through customer support on the website

3) Called 877-354-0013, which btw puts you in a loop...you will never speak to anyone no matter which choice you make...left message to return call

4) Received refund confirmation email from mymusic.com at approx 1:00 am EST on 11/09/05. Credit was posted to account 11/10/05

I must say that although I don't condone the practice of charging for free services, mymusic.com acted quickly in responding to my request...maybe I was one of the lucky ones.

Thanks for the post alerting us to FW being free!

Scammers are intidimating scammed users

Scammers are plague. Here is the the case of Miss. X we helped over the FW mail account. See how vicious they are. On this case, the the scammer site is allcoolmusic and for now I'll edit scammer email address and name, but I don't think they deserve such protection.

Miss. X to FW support:
Quote:

So a company called Allcoolmusic did indeed scam me out of $35 for your program._ Then when I tried to get in contact with them, they did not respond._ So I filed a complaint on the website you recommended and they have followed up by filing complaints against me and my honest business._ What should I do?_ I cannot even find a phone number for these scummy people and they are sending me really hostile emails._ I have to tell you that it’s a little frightening.
FW support responded to Miss. X:
Quote:

They cannot do anything. They are a bunch of *******s and that's what they do as a living -- leeching hard earned money. If you filled the FBI form and have problems with the scammers, please tell us by email or on the gnutellaforums.com thread I linked you. We will then find a way to help you, but as I said, they are not able to do anything legit legally. Also call you credit card company to cancel your present one, scammers are indeed dangerous about that.
Miss. X later to FW support:
Quote:

I did call my credit card company and had to actually cancel the card because I was afraid that they were going to use it over and over. Can they somehow get my social security number from the card I used?_ I am so freaked out._ _They continue to send me nasty emails and not respond to my question of how to get my money back._ Here is the latest one when I said I was going to file a complaint on that FBI site:
(Scammers email to Miss. X)
Quote:

Likewise....we went ahead and submitted your company, name, phone number and fax machine to the same department of the FBI along with our claims against you. Thanks for screwing us over on our mortgage. oh and when you try and send a threatening letter, don't include your personal and/or company information. thats just silly.

Sincerely,

Hi Melinda, I'm gonna show this email in the gnutellaforums thread, if you allow me to do so, so users can see how really vicious scammers are. No, they can't get your social security number with your CC card. If you want to email me all the threats they sent to you, I can make a special post about that on the forum thread too. People must be more informed about those illegal activities.
