I installed FrostWire and tried to open it using the desktop shortcut, the Start Menu/Programs shortcut, and then by going to Program Files and clicking FrostWire.exe. None of these open the program. It doesn't even act like it is loading nor does it show any hint of it in task manager. Any ideas? Thank you.

Ever since installing the latest xp fix (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-001.mspx) Lime and Frostwire don't even run anymore. It's just the logo and then it's cut off. I think that's where the problem lays - with the latest fix.

pummisher, me too. I re-installed Java a few days ago. I don't know if the FrostWire install is causing it or what, but once I re-installed Java it worked fine. Something odd is going on though if it is causing Java to mess up like that.

Maybe the latest xp fix, did something to java. It was a pretty bad exploit. I was wondering what kept hozing my xp installation. That explained it. Hacker sites I went to must have put some jpgs with that cause that buffer overrun or whatever with my computer allowing hackers to mess it up.

I do agree that user error is probably the cause of most of the problems with computers. And I do admit that I should probably steer clear of hacker sites. It's not the first time a hacker site like seriall.com (do not go there with java and javascript on - you will end up with a hozed computer in seconds... Or use firefox with the NoScript extention). I have used and extensively toyed with win 3.11 to xp - so I don't know if you would call it stupidity as much as wrecklessness. I have become accustomed to messing up and then fixing windows. And yet again, the problem has been solved. Lime and Frost wire are fine programs and I will not criticise anyone who put much time and effort into making it. But windows and java make things complicated and many things have to be accounted for to make a program work properly. As far as I know. Thank you.

| End-user stupidity? Java was fine. I un-installed LimeWire and installed FrostWire. FrostWire wouldn't work. I re-installed Java. FrostWire works. Explain how the uninstalling of LimeWire or the installing of FrostWire causing Java to not work is end-user stupidity? Quote:

I should have used the proper term for a bad hacker (cracker). Sorry. I'm sure there are people out there with hacker skills that use their know-how to cause damage. Microsoft wouldn't need to patch all those holes if there's weren't bad people out there and there would be no such thing as a virus. Thanks.

Now Now we all know that if as many people used the other OS out there there would be as many viruses written for them as Windows but there is really nothing to be gained at this time by doing so. Why waste the time what is it I read 90% of the world uses windows. Not to say that isn't going to change some day. Some countries governments are starting to change OS now due to windows vulnerabilities. And I am willing to lay odds that when that day comes and the hackers start going after the new king the code will be figured out and once that happens here come the hackers, viruses and vulnerabilities
