These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

| Thats what happens when you get a misguided developer that releases (albeit unpopular) bad software. even though there is not many of those clients on the network, it effects alot of people. More Information on this client: http://gnutellaforums.com/showthread...threadid=39690 |

| If You use the keyword filter, you don't see them. It is far worse with some other results The ones that have the exact phrase but with (some number) before or after it. They really flod the search so we don't get a single legit result. Like *.*(89) mp3 (31)*.* mp3 (8)*.* mp3 etc. maybe 50 different results like that with multiple sources. and the strange thing is that if you press one it doesn't start downloading at all. Makes me wonder why they show up. Do they maybe install malware on our computer without our knowledge ?? Or is the only reason to cause trouble finding stuff?? How do we block those ? The only thing that works is rephrasing to something that is part of the searchterm or to change the search term a little and hope that someone has misspelled the title. If we start adding (1) (2) (3) (4) etc. to our keywordfilter. How many legit results will we be blocking then ??? |

| I just got 531 results for UNLIMITED ACCESS TO 1.3M SONGS when making a search for a music file, so you might want to add unlimited to the keyword filter as well |

| All those in favor that really want to put a stop to this kind of spam REALLY quickly need to pressure and petition LimeWire to remove the Action URL launch capability. A new version of LimeWire is due out probably early next week, so complain, complain and complain some more. Send them emails, write forum posts (in their forums), complain in IRC... etc, etc. LimeWire devs will be back in on monday, so do as much as you can in 1 day, then keep the complaints rolling in after that. Link to the following thread if you must use references: http://gnutellaforums.com/showthread...threadid=39690 (FYI: leaving this code in causes severe security problems, concerns and vulneribilites. Not to mention that you could bring Gnutella to its knees using this hole not to spam, but to use exploits in browsers. (previous link shows why) so, it is a must that limewire disable it, ASAP.) FrostWire can only do so much without changing alot of code. Disabling the code in mainline limewire would be better for us all. Last edited by ultracross : February 12th, 2006 at 05:21 AM. |

2. Will removing it affect Magnet Link capabilities? (I guess this really works the opposite way around.) I'm in favour of it being removed if it doesn't affect LW or FW's abilities. Everybody in favor raise both feet! Last edited by Lord of the Rings : February 12th, 2006 at 08:47 AM. |

| OMG, I had no idea they included URL launch functionality.... its just butt-stoopid, IMHO. Makes me truly glad I abandoned using it ages ago now.... Thanks for the heads-up UC. Best wishes, and thanks again for FW (to all).

| At least adding sponsored to the keyword filter definitely works for those that have it in their filename (I haven't come across others yet.) Edit: As a reference to others, also add iPod & buylegal to your keyword filters. eg: How to use the Keyword Filter More to add: afford, finder & .com (be wary of using .com because some legitimate results may use it in their filename.) And some more keywords to add to your keyword filter: More Spam Keywords for the Keyword filter. And a couple of others: mp3-es.com & torrntazos.com Last edited by Lord of the Rings : September 11th, 2006 at 03:45 AM. |
