stuck on starting connection

i had the old frostwire and it worked fine what is with this new version. it is stuck on starting connection. yes i have a firewall up but it worked on the old version. any solution to this problem without haveing to jump through hoops. i really wish these developers would get something to work correctly before they put it out to the public

does this get any slower

i don't think it's possible to get any slower than this forum is. does anyone get anything resolved here?
must be the people that are supposed to have the answers don't have any

Maybe it's the posters who give no system info. What do you want us to do...guess??

Read the stickies, use the forum search or give us some details. But don't come here bleating about getting no help, when you haven't even told us what OS you're using let alone anything else:rofl:

i don't see what my systems specs have to do with anything. if the old version worked and the new one doesn't, something is wrong with the new one.
i just won't bother with it. they had a working system and had to mess with.

if it works don't fix it

ministock,

You won't get much help with that attitude. Supplying your details helps rule in/out some of the more common problems and gives the members of the forum who are trying to help, a starting point.

It maybe something simple like the "Listen on Port". IN FW go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config, and set it to 6346. If that doesn't help try setting to something between 45000 and 65000. That's just a guess, you didn't leave much to work with.

The new one works, so the problem is back to your setup. With ~5 million users online, problems with the code would flood the forums

Hey ministock I see you're making friends here too. I've just seen the Gnutella forums reaction to your posting, and well, I have to say all the replies to your posts there were spot on. System details and a good attitude, and a trifle of patience can get results. Try it.

.................ah I think may be you have made a start in another post. Good luck

ok i'll try to be a little more cordial this time
i just installed simply mepis 6.5 on my home built hand me down computer
amd athlon xp 1.2
1 gig mem
80 gig hd
i downloaded and installed froswire for debian/ubuntu from the frostwire site.
i had frostwire and it worked great before and i get really frustrated when something works and someone has to go messing with it
my philosophy is, if it works don't fix it.
anyway, frostwire installed without a hitch but when it starts everything appears normal but it stays at starting connection. after reading quite a few posts i did a few things and still no luck. i dmz'ed my routers firewall and the guarddog firewall is set to accept gnutella networks. the only thing left is port configuration. but i couldn't find any numbers for that. hope thats enough info
i'm sorry i was so short. i'm pretty much used to mepis forums where answers come in minutes.
