frostwire bad bad bad

Frostwire is trogans and spyware. I have not downloaded a single file that did not contain a trogan! A really good program ruined by people intent on destroying the gnutella concept. Maybe if a good open source programmer could install a prescanner to catch the virus' & trogans. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE USING FROSTWIRE WITHOUT AN ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM.

I would not recommend to anyone to ever simply connect with an ISP without viable anti-virus protection.

Remember... FrostWire, LimeWire, BearShare v5.x.x, Phex... any of the Gnutella Network clients...
'They' are not guilty of anything...
They are simply the Gnutella Network client the user has chosen.

Any and all material available for downloading is the responsibility of the individual users who elect to share files.

In other words... The spyware, the trojans, the porn, the misnamed files... WE are doing that to one another... WE, the users.

Do not blame the client developers.

btw... Have you ever used any filesharing program/client where you allowed your Downloads Folder to be automatically shared ?
Have you ever allowed Partial Filesharing ?
If the answer is yes to the above questions (or to 10 more questions I could ask), then you are also guilty of sharing files of an unknown quality.

Think about it...

yes

Thanks Ursula, I think I said that.???

...er, no....
You did NOT say that... You blamed the developers.

You also did not reply to the simple questions:

Have you ever used any filesharing program/client where you allowed your Downloads Folder to be automatically shared ?
Have you ever allowed Partial Filesharing ?

If the answer is yes to the above questions (or to 10 more questions I could ask), then you are also guilty of sharing files of an unknown quality.

And, NOT ONLY YOU !!!
As long as the so-called developers continue to include and ENFORCE the above two functions as default standards we are going to see garbage files being shared... Knowingly by some and UNKNOWINGLY by the great unwashed masses.

With all respect, your problem may be a simple matter of not understanding the 'current' requirements re: crafty search techniques... And, knowing, by sight, what are the definite bad/impossible file sizes.

None of the Gnutella Network client developers are working AGAINST us...
Most are making no effort to educate and 'protect' their users.

And, one more time, in case it is missed.....

I would not recommend to anyone to ever simply connect with an ISP without viable anti-virus protection.

Your turn...

So we fight over symantics "he said/she said". I'm not blaming developers, just think they could have developed a screening method to prevent virus' and spyware from getting in. Most people who share files don't have a reason for passing some unwanted bug. There are people who DO want to hijack your personal info or to install PUP's. Maybe if you believe in conspiracy theories some companies don't want gnutella to ever achieve a working status as it would allow users to not have to rely on their servers and therefore no advertising revenue; ie popups .

'symantics' (sic) is a kind of variation of an ancient word from the era of Peter Nortondamos !

And no I don't share files, except the ones I download from the program and only after they pass my AV program

"Most people" have absolutely no idea whatsoever what they are sharing.
THIS is the fault of the developers who are pursuing 'pretty numbers' enhanced by default settings which include sharing ALL downloads and sharing incomplete/partial downloads at the cost of not encouraging the sharing of ONLY vetted and quality files with proper naming and tagging.

Yup.
They are called 'record companies' and their vigilante posse mercenaries.
You don't believe that the SONY rootkits fiasco is a thing of the past, do you ?
Just wait for the next acts !

No need.
Ain't no theory, mister.
