too much resutls

Hi,

when I do some generic search I get a lot of results, like 2000-3000 and even more, that slows down my system. is there a way to limit this somehow?

Another question. How do I get rid of this annoying splash image at startup?

Thanks for the answers

You can reduce the strain on your system by activating some genreal filters.

The strain comes from displaying the results.

About the splash: What exactly would you prefer? Having it disappear when you click on it or not having it at all?

Thanks for the reply, wasn't in the gnutella search protocol a way to limit the search results?

About the splash, having both would be the best :wasntme: a simple click when I want to hide the splash screen, and a configurable option if I don't want to see it anymore.

I prefer the number of search results in Phex to Limewire, which, usually, gives about 400 results. BUT .. I would like to be able to limit certain results in Phex before the event, since, afaik the filter can only be used once the search is complete. I'm off to look at the manual right now :)

I do find the latest Phex does slow down things rather more than previous versions on my ageing Mac ... G3 OSX 10.3.9 400Mhz 320MB Memory.

Perhaps the usefulness of a splash screen is that, while it is showing it's best not to do anything else on the computer. But they can be a pain I agree:)

To reduce the strain, you can edit the filter-rules and disable the scam filter and the spam filter as default filters.

Just go to the search pane, select "edit" on the right side of the filters, select the activated filter, click modify and uncheck the box which makes it a default filter.

I'd be glad to hear, if that works.

It will, though, have the effect that you'll see how much spam and scam is sent on the gnutella network.
