These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.  Goals for G2 (was GSP) I am in the middle of my P2P Research for G2 (Gnutella 2), which I was calling The Gnutella Services Project and then I figured I might as well send in a proposal for v2 that can be thrown arround The GDF for a few months. Here is my (Revised) Goals for G2 (in order of importance): 1) !! FULL XML COMPLIANCE FOR MESSAGES !! 2) Network Load Balancing 3) Improvements for Legitimate File Sharing a. Native File Encryption for files under Copyright b. Full Support for Digital Signatures on Files c. Support for "Distributions" or "Packages" of Multiple Files 4) Introduction + Simple Implementation of "Network Services" a. First Service - IRC-Style Chat Syntax b. Future Services May Include: i. Usenet-Style News Server ii. Free Net-Style HTTP Propagation iii. Streaming Media Support (RealMedia/Quicktime/WMedia) 5) Intelligent Network Routing 6) Partial File Sharing (using Bitprint) 7) Full Alt-Location Support 8) Additional Ways to Find Files (Using Hashes) a. Fully Open URL Syntax b. Fully Open Text-Based File Syntax (*.p2p) 9) Redundant Network Core (Reduce Need for External PONG Servers) 10) Ability for ISPs/Universities to Ensure More File transfers Occur Locally 11) "Direct Connection" Functionality 12) Improved LAN Functions 13) Better Utilization of Available Client Resources 14) More Metadata 15) "Chaining" Support Please feel free to comment!

| Its easy to sit there in your arm chair and make a list of everything that is needed to improve gnutella, and those have been listed many times before. It's another thing to actually write the code to do it. So go grab a copy of Gnucleus off of CVS and get busy if you want to see all that working within the next year or two. |

| Creativity without knowledge of how it would work in code is a waste of time My new (revised) list of features: 1. Travel faster than the speed of light 2. Go to other planets 3. Come back 4. Set up nodes on other plants 5. Share files across the universe 6. Built in nuron interface to brain 7. Share thoughts via P2P 8. Have sex via P2P 9. World peace Those are my goals - without writing the code or doing the actual work that is Excuse me, I have to get back to my arm chair and beer now |

6. PFSP is in the works on the GDF. 7. This is HUGE. OK. I'm stopping here. I hate web fori. Having to edit a reply in a small browser window with limited editing capabilities and the inhability to save to a file is beyond what I can tolerate.
