GnucCS Wont Connect

I am using GnucCS, the C# example that is posted on the GnutellaDNA site. I cant get it to connect at all. Do I need to update the cache URL's in the source?

Edit: Changed OP

Do you mean Gnucleus with GnucDNA?

GnucDNA is “a bit” outdated and many peers won’t allow it anymore (missing important protocol enhancements).

File_Girl71 November 11th, 2010 02:24 AM

Yes it as you say arne_bab it is missing few protocol enhancements...But it's not tru the peers do not allow GnucDNA client connect to them because of that...I use mutch GnucDNA client like Morpheus with GnucDNA 1.1.1.4 and it has no problem with connection to the peers! Iam use to become ultrapeer also after an hours running! But i agree GnucDNA is littel bit outdated and it should be updated. We have some problem with source code to it what ever we do it won't let us compile it any more...Iam not sure what to do!!! Even John Marshall him self has given up on it. He cannot either find the solution on the problem...The NetShare project is not that old and it should connect to the Network...GnucDNA client's is depending of two files to get connected...1.WebCach 2.Cache file where the peers ip and port is stored...All GnucDNA client must have a Cache file to connect! krankzinnig i will try to help you out with this one if i can, but i never try out the NetShare at all and all i have is the source for 0.52 and i will try to take a look at it!:)

From the source code as fare i can tell it does not look like a typical GnucDNA client with GnucDNA.dll or GnuCOM.dll. Here is the link to the source file from Sf: Browse NetShare Files on SourceForge.net Btw is NetShare 2.0.0.2 and NetShare 0.52 the same version, or is 0.50 newer??? Her is a sample i take to day for show how a GnucDNA client in full speed! I have Morpheus Ultra 5.1.0.850 with GnucDNA 1.1.1.4 running and it was relased in 2005.. Here is the result:

All the ip in this sample is temperd with so it actually does not show it plain and straight forward! This is to protect the user on the Networks...I think not bad for a GnucDNA client from 2005!

Okay now I am trying to use GnucCS the C# example on the site and I cannot get it to connect. I need a list of gcache addresses. How do I get these? Also the config file it generates has 0.0.0.0 as the IP and 0 as the port. What should I put in these areas to connect to the gnutella network.

krankzinnig November 14th, 2010 03:18 PM

Bump: I just need to know what addresses to use in the GnucCS example to get it to connect to the gnutella network. What gcaches should I be using?

arne_bab November 15th, 2010 02:05 AM

Please look at the phex sourcecode. You might find some there: SourceForge.net Repository - [phex] Contents of /phex/trunk/src/main/resources/phex/resources/phex.hosts

If that doesn’t work, run a Phex, wait some time (1-2h), stop it and then use the phex.hosts in its config folder (on *nix-Systems it’s ~/.phex). That should give you working IPs.

Or look here:

SourceForge.net Repository - [phex] Contents of /phex/trunk/src/main/java/phex/bootstrap/UdpHostCacheContainer.java

I tried it with those addresses but I think the protocols are different :/ Can someone explain how the cache works?

Bump: I am back to NetShare and have the same problem where I can connect to a handful of hosts, then they disconnect immediately leaving me no way to search anything. My host list is as follows:

If they disconnect immediately, you likely don’t support features which they require.

Could you start a Phex locally and connect with your NetShare to the phex, testing if the connection becomes stable?
