LimeWire. We have a problem!

Before I get down to the nitty gritty, there is a little information that may be handy.

I am running a lowly (but adequate(at the moment ;) )) PowerBook G3 233, 10GB, 256MB, 56k dial-up account(with 2 hour cut off :( ) & MacOSX 10.1.5 and have just upgraded to the LimeWire basic version 2.8.5. (Not Pro just yet, when all the problems have been sorted out)

First off, the link that I followed to get the latest version, pointed me to version 2.7.13, but I was able to get to version 2.8.5 by working out this link http://www3.limewire.com/download/2.8.5/

A problem that I seem to be encountering, no matter which version I have used (I started using LimeWire back during 2.4.4) is linked to my dial-up time limit. Now before anyone thinks, I know! He needs broadband! I KNOW! but unfortunately the only sort I can get where I live is satellite (incredibly expensive)... and if I don't use one of these dial-up accounts where you pay monthly with no phone charges, my bank manager would have an absolute bl**dy fit over my phone bills ;) ! Back to the problem... When I am disconnected, and then reconnect, LimeWire is extremely reluctant to reconnect to the network, no matter how many times I click 'file/connect'. I used to put an overly large number in the 'Keep approximately ** connections alive' box, and that would sometimes give it the kick it needed, but not, it seems, anymore.

Because I get kicked off, or disconnect myself, and then reconnect, all my unfinished downloads restart from 0% again :( (which is very tedious). To try and get round this problem, I have tried the following, quit LimeWire, disconnect from the net, reconnect to the net, restart Limewire. Unfortunately, Limewire restarts without the files listed in the downloads pane about 4 times out of 5 :(, and when I go to the incomplete library and click resume for the relevant file, it just starts all the way back at 0% again. The third or fourth time that happens, is enough to get me slightly frustrated, because that is an awful lot of time wasted!

Good grief, this is turning into a full blown story (wish I was getting paid by the word for this!:D )

Having trawled through some of the postings in these forums, I can accept certain realities about LimeWire not being able to find the file I want from the original source, and then finding a duplicate and downloading that etc. etc. blah, blah... The issue I have with that is, if it is a duplicate, why can't LimeWire resume the download from the place that it ended at before? why does it have to start all over again:confused:! (If I am not careful, I am going to start using a lot of exclamation marks at the end of my sentences) And why does the file disappear from the downloads pane?

Please help...

Please?

One good thing I have found in these forums was the post about running LimeWire directly from the terminal using the 'java -jar /Applications/LimeWire/LimeWire.jar' command. On my system it makes a noticable difference.

Oh no... my two hours are just about up again :(

I look forward to some feedback, and maybe some fixes in the next release.

Thanks in advance.
