Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. | I wish Apple would stop bring out these new inventions. How the hell can anyone keep up with them! I suspect this should be a feature request as you have presumably selected the iTunes Folder as your Video download location, and the iTunes integration option is I can only assume only, at present, available for audio |
| ||||
| Here's a dumb question from a new mac user....... If I click and grab a file from my shared folder, then drag and drop it into the iTunes icon, am I copying that file (?) or is it an alias or single file/multiple location type thingy. If I am copying, my hard drive will be filling up reeeeeeally fast. Yikes |
| |||
| beleive it or not I have never used the Grab function and don't know what it does! yes I have a vague idea it does make a copy. I have the iTunes folder as my download folder, with iTunes integration enabled, so tunes load into iTunes automatically (usually I hope that helps. |
| ||||
| Oh Bother! If I have been making muliple copies for video files when I grab them from my shared folder (which LimeWire downloads to) and drop them into iTunes, I am going to fill my hard drive way too fast. I guess the alternative if I want to use LimeWire and iTunes for videos is not to share them over LimeWire as I will need to remove them from the shared folder and move them into iTunes. There's a better way I am sure. |
| |||
| I use I tunes 5 I rarely watch video's and usally watch them with whatever they happen to open by double clicking. In my iTunes.preferences>advanced>preferences there is the option "copy files to iTunes folder when adding to Library". I have that dissabled. So in fact my iTunes Library contains audio files from 3 Folders on 3 different drives. One of these three folders IS my iTunes folder and my Limewire download folder. If I enabled "copy files to iTunes folder when adding to Library" I would no doubt need a fourth drive If I have a file not in my iTunes folder I wish to add to the iTunes library, I select iTunes>File>Add To library and browse for the files. That way I do not create a new file. I was under the impression that dragging files to the library worked in the same way, but I am absolutely NOT sure There is no reason you cannot add items from your download/shared folder in this way, ... I just have my iTunes folder as my download folder. Does this help, or am I confusing even myself |

Likewise O.A.H., I had my iTunes split into 3 on 2 HDD's. But about a week ago I consolidated onto a specific external drive. I needed the space back on my computer. lol Sorry what I've said isn't really very helpful to your problem.Be interesting to try out the video importing to see if it works, ie: with iTunes 6. So at least it's not a mystery.

| ((gulp))... Well, unfortunately I'll probibly be purging my shared folder on a semi regular basis if I have to manage several files that are exactly the same. At least until I get a storage solution like a large external drive, or possibily an imac mini if it can share the screen of my regular imac. Thats kind of an interesting idea, devoting the mini to LimeWire and itunes. I'll have to think about that one. |

| mharing: You are confusing me. What I have been trying to say is that you do not need to have more than one copy of a file. LOTR and I have just got so many files that we are bursting at the seams. They have a habit of mounting up you will find OTOH If you are planning on building a large and unusual collection, it might be worth considering copying your files to another drive or storage CD ... Just in case of a disaster....... The mini looks interesting but I imagine you would have to un-plug the screen from one to the other. Mind you I just picked up an old screen for next to nothing, for my windows 95 antique. |

Yep mini's don't have expedient amounts of HDD space. I have 2 internal 120 GB drives & that wasn't enough for me as I need space for normal full quality video capture, uplding, editing, conversions, backups, VM space, etc. Although I have my iTunes library on an external share drive now, it's also backed up onto another drive. I did originally back them up onto dvd-rw but that was a pia for the amount of disks i needed for that & other things. lol
