File icons blank now

Hi, running latest pro version. WHen I do a search, almost all the icon file types are blank. Only a few show .avi, etc. WHat's up? Also, even though it lists that there are many sources, it rarely downloads. Thanks.

No thoughts anyone? Nobody has this problem? Thanks. To clarify, blank means they are white/grey instead of an .avi icon. MOV or MPEG files show a Quicktime icon, but .avi are blank.

Thanks

Hi there, i'm not an experienced user at all but i had the problem of limewire loading and opening with a blank screen and while searching would have blank search tabs. Not sure if this is the same problem you're having but it might just work! Try this (it worked for me) - Change skin modes. I changed my skin mode from their default one to the metal skin and everything came up fine. All other skin modes still came up with glitches except the Metal skin. In regards to files showing many sources but not being able to download, i've read that its because they're fake files. There's a thread posted by member "Lord of the Rings" explaining the situation with that.
Hope this helps :)

I've had the icons in LW change to LW's default icons. The ones shown on the library page under "Saves Files", but then they'd change back on their own. This used to happen off and on, but it didn't affect anything.

The icons just show the program you have set as the default player for that type of file, it doesn't have any affect on the files themselves. Mine hasen't done it in a long time.

For Mac OSX, if your file icons in LW are blank, it generally means you have no default program set to open those files. For music files, set iTunes as the default. For video files, get this player VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site). My guess is you have QuickTime player set as the default video player but you're lacking the correct codecs/plug-ins to play certain types of files. So .. to make VLC your default program for all video types, select an mpeg file & make vlc default. Do the same with mpg, mov, & avi. More about how to do this in OSX here: How to change default program in OSX

BTW most files with the MOV extension on Gnutella network are spammed porn files. Especially if they are less than 100 MB in size. ;)

Thanks. Does the fact that the icons are blank mean they are not available as a reliable download source? If not, it's no big deal. Thanks.

No, it means you presently don't have a program set to open such files that is able to. That's why I recommend getting VLC & set VLC as the default program to open your video files. If you come across other types of files with blank icons, let us know & I'll tell you which program is required to open them.

eg: I moved my iTunes music library to an external drive. I also moved the iTUnes program to the external drive. When the external drive is not turned on, all my music file icons are blank. That includes on LW & any on the computer. I have other music programs but because iTunes is set as the default to open them all ... without iTunes being available I get the blank file issue. No biggie for me. Once I reconnect the external drive the icons change back to normal.
