Limewire to iTunes?

I've recently purchased an iPod, and wanting to import music to it from Limewire, can't seem to get anywhere. I've tried everything in the forum, but nothing works. I'm using the free version. Do I need to purchase the Limewire software in order to import music from Limewire to iTunes so I can put it on my iPod???

Open up your "shared" folder and put all your songs in one folder. (only necessary if you have video clips, documents etc. in your "shared" folder). Now open iTunes and choose add to library from the file menu and select the folder with all your music in it.

Limewire to iTunes?

I tried that and it didn't work. So, I don't have to buy the Limewire program because it doesn't matter. It's supposed to work with the free version as well, right? Do you have any other suggestions?

There is no difference between the free version and LW Pro so the only reason to pay for it is if you want to support the developers. Could you please explain what you mean when you say it doesn't work so that I can try to help you figure it out?

Limewire to iTunes?

Ok, when I'm in Limewire, it loads and saves to the Limewire Library. So, when I go under the HD, Home, Shared folder, the song is there, which has an iTunes icon and says MP3 on it. I've tried to drag it over to iTunes under Library, even under iPod, and it won't stick. Once I drop it on there, it should post in the list, of which it doesn't. I've even uninstalled Limewire and re-installed it, but nothing works. Maybe I should uninstall iTunes 4 and reinstall it again. I don't know, I'm at a loss. I wished I could figure this out so I could use the iPod. :)

You can't drag the files into iTunes, you have to either choose add to library from the file toolbar or just double click the file if it has an itunes icon next to it. This will add the file to the library.

Limewire to iTunes?

I've done all that. In fact, those where the most promising. When I double click on it to play it in the shared folder, it opens iTunes, but doesn't do anything after that. If I go to Add to Library, I see it in the list and click on it, and click on Choose, and it still does nothing. I tried calling Apple, and they didn't know. They said I would have to speak to someone about Limewire.

OK this is indeed a very strange problem when not even apple knows what to do. Do you have the same problem with all files you download, or is it one specific song? Perhaps you could open the song in Quicktime and export to AAC (movie to Mpeg-4) then import it in iTunes. This only works if you have QT Pro though.

Limewire to iTunes?

No, Apple wasn't very helpful at all. I'm sorry, but I don't know what you are talking about. I have a PowerBook G4. I just uninstalled and reinstalled Limewire. I installed from versiontracker.com instead. Maybe this will make a difference. Apple said they can't help me because they don't support Limewire issues. I have to admit, I'm getting so frustrated that the excitement of having this stupid iPod is starting to drop off. Sorry to sound this way, but I've been trying to do this since last night. I don't know what else to do. I tried it with several songs from Limewire, nothing worked. Do you know how to get a hold of someone who works for Limewire on the phone or something? I swear, it's always me who has the problems. Nobody else ever has the troubles I do with computers! :)

Limewire to iTunes - Solved!!!

I just got off the phone with Apple, and this one tech decided to help me. It was a problem with iTunes, and to try to explain it? I can't. It took me over an hour on the phone, but he finally solved it and it's fixed! I am so excited right now I could burst! Thank you for all your help. I guess Apple was helpful after all. I just kept getting the wrong person! Thanks again! :)
