We took out the Browse Host feature several versions ago because it did not work 95% of the time the way it was implemented. We will likely re-implement this feature so that it works almost all of the time for any search result.

We took out this feature on all platforms.

I beg to differ with your 95% estimate. Practically every time I launch LimeWire, I will see the same ip addresses uploading multiple files from my computer. As a developer, maybe you need to give yourself more credit. Trust me, it works. I would be happy to send you several screenshots of what is quite a common occurence.
I hope you are correct in telling us that the feature will return. I feel slighted after paying for the Pro version upgrade to find that older "defective" versions are browsing at will from me while I would also like the ability to do the same.

There's no question that the browse host feature worked some of the the time. Because you see the same host uploading from you multiple times in no way indicates, however, that they are using browse host. It's more likely that they're, well, just downloading multiple files from you.

That said, we have implemented browse host in such a way that will work far better than our previous implementation, and it will be released quite soon. We have also discussed the protocol for with with all other gnutella developers, so it will likely be implemented throughout the gnutella network.
