| I have a question. Occasionally in my library of audio downloads there appears these files I never put there. they are in red and called album art. I delete them and do not open them because since I did not put them there they scare me. What are they and how did they get there? |

| Okay so I know what a torrent is, in the very basic of ways. What I do not understand is how to actually use or get a torrent in Limewire. If I open LW, and do a search, will it find torrents? Or do I have to use my browser (which is Firefox by the way), search for torrents, download them and then what? I've searched high and low for a tutorial on how to get torrents via Limewire, or how to run torrents or whatever. I've come up with nothing. The only thing I've found is that I can download a torrent and then drag it. It's not clear to me where I'm dragging it to, nor if LW is supposed to be open, or something. Any help is appreciated. Oh, and if someone can help me I'd be more than happy to write a tutorial (with screencaps) for others to use in the future. Edited to add: Should I post this somewhere else instead? |

http://thepiratebay.org/search/[edit]/0/0/300 Click on any page there and there will be a link called DOWNLOAD THIS TORRENT. You can drag that into Frostwire or Limewire betas and if the link is active it will end up in the download section. You could also copy the short cut if the DOWNLOAD link and in LW/FW click on FILE then DOWNLOAD TORRENT... then paste the URL in there. | BitTorrent is a file distribution system used for transferring files across a network of people. As you download a file, BitTorrent places what you download on upload for other users; when multiple people are downloading the same file at the same time they upload pieces of the file to each other. BitTorrent pieces together the file you are downloading, to where the first part of a file you get may be the last part someone else gets. As you continue to retrieve the file, BitTorrent also uploads data to other users. For example, a person with 98 percent of the file done is directed to the people with the 2 percent of the file they still need.Limewire now supports BitTorrent downloads | TorrentFreak

(Tools > Options) and selected the bit torrent drop down menu on the left. i unchecked the box for torents to start automatically in limewire, and also unchecked the box in the advanced options to allow limewore to control my settings . . .but my torrents still open in limewire!!! help, i really dont want them too!!! |

| For the guy who wanted limewire to stop stealing the bittorrent file associations. If you go into advanced options, under the tools -> options menu you will find the 'File associations' bar. Click on it and uncheck the box that says '.torrent' files. This should stop it from making the torrent files open in limewire. As to restoring the default program to bittornado, you could -as suggested- reinstall. Also I'm sure there is an option in the bittornado's menu to reassociate the torrent files to bittornado. Least there is in utorrent (which I use :P) (For utorrent it's under options -> preferences in the general tab at the bottom. It's a big button saying associate with torrent files) |
