Blue Screen of Death

I'm using a dell latitude d620, 1.67 core2 cpu, 1gb RAM.
that online test thing worked. I have the latest java version.

I recently upgraded to Vista, and reinstalled Limewire. Every so often (I'm pretty sure its when using Limewire) I get a BSOD with stop code 0x8E. It gives no details aside from a big long hex code.

What can I do...anything?

update: It's definitely caused by limewire. Windows has a solution to the problem that pops up, and it says that it is caused by a video card driver. How is it possible that a video driver could conflict with limewire? Or maybe it's something else altogether?

It can and does happen that there are incompatibilities between LW and some video drivers. The best thing do do is update your video driver, usually the latest version has solved the problem.

ALso agree, drivers of some nature need upgrading to work properly with LW. The problem exists, just that LW brings it out in the open. Limewire and Blue Screen of Death (click on link)

OK thanks guys. So its my video card driver. Its nvidia quadro 256MB and I went to the nvidia website to upgrade it. When I ran the upgrade program, it says something like "no upgrades found compatible with your hardware" or something similar. What a crock..does that mean I have to wait until they get new drivers out, then?

OK so its not the video driver; I updated it from Dell and I still get the error. A minute or two after I start downloading a file, I get the BSOD with the stop code 0x8E, and the exception code 0xC0000005 which means STATUS ACCESS VIOLATION. What does that mean? I uninstalled limewire and tried frostWire, and I got the same error. Anyone have an inkling of what this is about?

This might help diagnose the problem....
