Gnutella Forums - Assertion failed?

Upon starting LimeWire 1.7, this nice little window pops up:

If i click Abort, it quits and leaves me with nothing.
If i click Ignore, it just pops up again.
If i click Retry, i get this:

I tried downloading a new version of MSVCRT.DLL but it can't replace the other one because its "Being Used by Windows."

I'm running Windows ME, Shaw at home - internet on cable, a P4 1.5 ghz, 512ram and a Nvidia GeForce2 32mb vid card. I've tried reinstalling LimeWire twice, and several restarts/shutdowns as well as disc scanning - to no avail.
The really weird thing is is that it just decided to do this now, with no changes to the system at all it went from fully functioning to this.

Please oh please don't make me find a new program!
