Yawn, no thanks. I'll just use something else. I've installed it from 3 different downloads from limewire's site and mirrors. It's some crappy java issue I'm sure. It's not a virus, I've installed and uninstalled, and cleaned my registry, deleted the .limewire directory etc etc. I've posted pertinent log here, on the limewire site, I'm not going to register on norbies site so he can tell me how to use hijackthis. sigh.

If you haven't tried it already you can try following the instructions below.

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link.You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

I've been thru all that already (read the fixit thread as posted before), no luck. Limewire is not the only thing that uses java on my computer, but it is the only thing that's not working. (I"m using the latest 1.5 build of java- b05). It's always about the same..

I will try updating the jre though and see what happens.

I very seriousley dought that is the answer rembember there are virtually millions of us running LW with no problems.

Bah, I uninstalled the jre, and the jdk and all java from my computer, then uninstalled limewire - reinstalled only the jre, reinstalled limewire, and it ran for about 30 seconds before it winked out. Same error.

LOL, I "dought" that all bugs affect all people, even virtual ones

I had the " Shutting Down problem" where I was using Limewire and when I returned to the computer, it had closed down. Checking the system tray, when I clicked on the icon it disappeared.
To cure it I did nothing other than disable my "sharks" screensaver. As soon as the screensaver came on this de-activated limewire.

I now stop the screensaver when using limewire
