These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

| OS: Windows XP - Professional Version: LW v4.12.6 (Basic) Background: Had LW v4.12.6 (Basic) previously installed on my PC and went to open the program yesterday afternoon. After opening the program and having everything look ready to go I proceeded to click on Search > Audio. But, to no avail. All "clickable" buttons were highlighting when I hovered but will not actually click. They'll will look like a normal operating button but when have no action. I scanned with my virus software (ZoneAlarm Suite) and it had found nothing. After a few, (four), attempts I figured I would Remove the program, reboot and re-install. Now, everything has loaded on to my computer once again... But, when I go to start the program I get the initial setup screen. 'Limewire Setup Dialog' > Choose Language. Again, I encounter the same problem. Hover and clicking on the button seems to have no action behind them so I can't continue setup. It's as if they are "dummy" buttons meant to have no action, but obviously they're supposed to. Thanks in advance for anyone who has suggestions for me. I'm not computer illiterate and have some reasonable amount of knowlegde so complete laymens is not nessesary. (lol) Codename:Classified |

| Do these things: 1. Go to Add/Remove programs control panel & remove all versions of java. Then reinstall Java using the "Offline" Java installer which is about 15.6 MB download: Java 1.5 (take the JRE). It's the 1st on the list of actual download links on the 2nd page you get to after selecting the following: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications. 2. Delete your LW preferences folder; Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) |

| I am not sure where I should post this, so I choose here. When I load LW, my mouse becomes completely decorative. It will hover and highlight but won't allow me to click anything. Has anyone had this happen or know how I can go about fixing it. (FYI: I posted a similar thread in Technical Support > Installation but I figured since this isn't an install mishap I would post here.) Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

| We don't know whether you updated your Java & deleted the preferences folder, as LOTR suggested in your first thread??? See if any links in the post below help Can't click in Limewire If not, use the forum search to see if you can find any other old threads.

| CNC You have not said, in either postings, if your mouse is different from the normal (corded, 2 buttoned, thumb-wheeled and ball underneath) mouse. For example, do you have a cordless, an optical mouse or some other specialist variant? If so, you may have to adjust your mouse settings (if it has any), re-install your mouse driver or you may have found a real incompatibility between LW and your particular mouse. | I've been thru both a mouse & keyboard on this computer. I presume you tried the things I suggested. How about trying step 5 in the link I gave about fixes. ie: changing compatibility mode to either NT or 2000. Try both. This sometimes fixes odd issues for XP users. |

| Yeah, I've done everything. Nothing has changed. I've enjoyed Limewire and have had nothing but good things with it, unlike others which I will not name. I like using LW and want to continue using it. I just wish this problem could get fixed. |

| It's seems to be only Java programs. Opening Java Console has mouse disabled as well. Reading through the Java support forums, there has been a problem like this before with several other users. But, no way of fixing it. It just stops. |

| How about the support site for the mouse? They may have some pointers or feedback about this type of issue. There may even be a firmware upgrade or something. It's obviously happened to other people. |
