Don't go doing anything too drastic just yet!
Have you tried un-installing your java runtime engine and your copy of Limewire at the same time and then re-installing both from the start. It's best if you can install the Java RTE in the offline state which means downloading the larger 15 MB package from Sun microsystems and give that a go. Quite often people have had to re-install both at the same time to have success with their problem. I'm not sure why this works but it seems to work for a lot of people to install the java RTE manually and then Limewire also manually before they have success. Read as many of the "Stickies" at the top of the forums and hope there is an answer there that might help you. Perhaps some of the more experienced helpers may step in here and help you out, but either way. Let us know how you go.
Good Luck!

When you say that LW "will not work" - do you mean that

a) LW won't open
b) LW will open, but not connect to the network
c) LW will open & connect, but files won't download
d) some other problem

a) - http://www.gnutellaforums.com/331559-post2.html

b) - Try the fixes in the thread below. If nothing there helps, post back with your system details.
If LW Will Not Connect

c) - Try the advice here: Cant download at all - nothing happens when I click download (click on link)

d) - Please tell us what the problem is.

I own Limewire Pro. Ever since Limewire was discontinued it will not connect. Is there a way to fix the problem? I use Frostwire now. Is there any help for this problem? Limewire conecting?

Sure, look around the forum first before posting. You are an experienced forum member, you should know by now there are not only posts but also sections in the forum dealing with this issue. ;) Connection Problems

I never have problems connecting with an old LW 4 version if I use the connection fix installer. I also check to make sure the program is not being firewalled either in the firewall or via the router. Depending on your type of router you might need to setup a TCP & UDP port forwarding rule for LimeWire. You can do the same for FrostWire but just be careful to use a separate port forwarding rule & different port number. Two programs cannot use the same port with port forwarding. Also two computers on same local home network cannot use the same port forward rule. Recommended to use a port number between 20000 and 60000. Also of course set the port forward option within LimeWire and add the port number in LW's connection settings.

You have a history of asking the exact same question, an example http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac/29...tml#post377543. Perhaps you can bookmark the post that best answers your question. :)
You also have a history of posting to very old threads.
