If a host attempts within a certain time period to download too many files from a host sharing files then the download host is temporarily blocked for about an hour.

Note: If you are using LPE (LimeWire 5.6.2) then it possesses several upload bugs. I fixed a few of those bugs for WireShare which is the updated continuation of LPE. The 'Greedy Servant' settings are far too low for LPE. The LPE internal upload settings are ugly.

Personally I've had hosts attempt to download several thousand files almost simultaneously (as fast as they could select & download and as fast as the messages are relayed and processed.) That kind of downloading is a little crazy and unwise to download from a single host who more than likely does not have too many upload slots set. LPE has a defensive system not only for uploads but also for poorly designed apps that don't behave properly (eg: a buggy release version.) This defensive system blocks hosts that send too many messages. A prospective downloader might browse the host first. This browse is added to a tally along with any subsequent download requests. If the tally reaches a certain number within a certain time period then it is considered not normal behaviour for the network.

I hope that makes some kind of sense.

I think I answered your similar question here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...tml#post378375
I would suggest perhaps you can make a desktop shortcut to your downloads location when LimeWire is open so you can then access the files easily when LimeWire is closed. :)

ok i found the fix for wireshire.

Wireshare: unable to upload upload limit reached --> How to fix this **** .... i added in Down/UP = 50

But then users get blocked.

Lord of the Rings March 20th, 2019 06:25 PM

hmm I guess so. It does seem the maximum upload slots is 50. I don't think LW 4 had any upload limits or perhaps it was 99. There's several things I never liked about LW 5. Edit: FrostWire 4 has unlimited upload slots it seems to LW 4 was no doubt the same.

I wanted to incorporate many of LW 4's abilities into WireShare but it became apparent BigJx only wanted to get the program to a bug-less state of LW 5 that could connect easily. I have been considering for several years doing my own version but still never got around to it other than compiling a slightly different version. I have a long list of things to do if I ever get around to it and am able to achieve it.

i am using FrostWire Windows Gnutella ConnectFix 25 Dec 2018 but since today it dont connect ... Any Ideas or new fixes avaible?! Using Wireshare 4.20.9

Lord of the Rings March 23rd, 2019 09:32 AM

The FrostWire Windows Gnutella ConnectFix will only work for FrostWire. Unless you take swap the gnutella.net file from FrostWire's settings folder across into the WireShare settings folder and replace the WireShare equivalent gnutella.net file.

Alternatively, find your WireShare settings folder and delete the gnutella.net file whilst WireShare is closed. Then re-opening WireShare should help you to connect.

To find the settings folder: Use your computer's Search > type %appdata% into the text field and then look for WireShare's settings folder. Open that folder to find the gnutella.net file.
