Try to install java separatly.

God now I am really going to sound like I dont know what I am doing... but I guess I really dont.

It says its trying to install java as a part of the process of installing the limewire software. I didnt think I had an option as installing the java software, its like it trys to do it automatically. Dont I already have Java? Unless you mean to try to get the most up-to-date version of Java seperatly.

Install Java using the manual (offline) installer here
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Now install LW using it's offline installer
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

If you are running 64 bit windows xp then this may help I found one answer, decided to sticky it but it applies systems running 64 bit windows http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...wer-found.html post #7.

When you get to the Java site's installation page you will see an option for Offline installation. This option is always safer. Offline installer means you download the installer to your computer with all the data inside the installer itself. Whereas the online installer means you download just the basic installer which then downloads the data over the internet during the installation process.

LW 5 requires at least Java 1.6 (also called Java 6). LW = LimeWire.

My suggestion would be to:

1. Remove all previous versions of Java using the control panel. Install 64 bit Java 1.6. http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml

2. Use the Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.

3. Delete any LW preferences folder you can find: Steps 2 & 3 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link)

4. Run Crap Cleaner

5. Download & run this version of LW: Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!

* If LW has same message that it cannot find Java, then remove the 64-bit Java & install the 32-bit Java instead. ;)

Thanks for answering..but...geese....it took so long to get all this on here and now someone tells me to re-uninstall,,and ...reinstall???It did not work last time??

I read one of the links you sent me...BTW go to Control panel, find the Java control panel & check the options. Under Java -> View, it should say which version is installed & if it is enabled or not. It needs to be Java 1.6 for LW 5.

I am running winxp I do not have a "java control panel", under my control panel thre is nothing that shows the coffee cup..nothing....java...
