Bad choice my friend,......download.com was once secure to download programs, but not more today, because they seem not to have time anymore to check the programs before people download them.

You should download LW (basic/ Pro) ONLY from the official LW website:
http://www.limewire.com/

It's not clear for me what link you're talking about.
However, here is the direct link to the Sun Java download site:

no, on limewire 's home page, when am about to download it, it ask what OS (windows, MAC, etc) I click windows online installer-it takes me to download.com

It's just a 3rd party site that hosts the program so it doesn't overload the LW servers. Normally you should be cautious as you are, but LW does occasionally use mirror sites for it's downlds.

i dunno-I was using IE for my downloads, the Limewire EXE wouldnt work, so i switched back to Firefox, it worked,but now it takes me to download.com to download limewire.

When trying to download the offline installer .exe of LW, it will download directly from the LW site.......might be worth a try.

@LOTR
Actually, I'm a bit of surprised, since the legends of download.com have spread throughout the net with people complaining to have downloaded some troyans, ads and other culprites....:eek:

But, of course, if LW is the original host of the exe, then there won't be any danger....;)
