Hosts

I have been reading about hosts being sensitive to "greedy" (??) downloaders; that you should try to avoid downloading too many files from one host. How can I tell if I am "imposing" on the same host when I download? I looked at the LimeWire interface page and don't see anything that specifies the host. Guess I'm just missing it but since I truly don't want to offend anyone by breaking rules I didn't know about when I started, I am asking for help here. Thanks, all.

"Greedy" generally refers to the older & out of date programs that don't behave properly. They make continuous requests to the host to download a file. LW has a built-in limit which puts a ban on such when they have over-stepped the limit of requests over a period of time. I'm not sure of any more than that.

But I think you're refering to people who decide themselves a person should be blocked because they decide to downld many files from them at once. There's been suggestions those are often users who don't share & are greedy - taking up all their upload slots. I guess just be careful & not try to downld too many files from the one host at once. For a start, you will get more reliable results if you downld just a couple or so at a time.
