Limewire not running(REINSTALLING JAVA & LIMEWIRE DOESN'T WORK)

nobody has come up with a solution to this problem. every time a thread is posted everyone comes up with this stupid sugestion of reinstalling java and then reinstalling limewire. it just ****** the person off and doesnt solve the problem. im really really sorry guys if i sound a lil pissed but ive tried all this crap,
delete the folder ".limewire" preference folder
uninstall limewire
unistall java
reinstall java, the offline installer
reinstall limewire

none of this worked for me guys.
could anybody come up with something different?
ive seen the same answer on every thread.
instead of wasting time doing this, i guess one would be better off reinstalling windows. cuz i think it takes the same amount of time.

Seeing you just deleted this same post in another thread I will give you the same advice as I did there...
Well generally there the fixes to that sort of problem..If it hasn't worked for you, you may have some other problem as well...

Please dont forget that everyone here offers their free time to help others...

Maybe supplying your comp specs might help as well...

ok bro, sorry for being rude.
the people whor trying to help here r doing a great job indeed but whats the point in posting the same thing again, when it is clear that it hasn't worked.

So what ... are you using windows year 1782 or XP or wtf? Forum Rules (click here)

We don't have ESP here. We can only work or suggest upon what info users give us about their situation & set up. If they don't give us much then ...

Generally the problems with LW are with Java. That's why we suggest reinstalling Java offline. (Java is a well known problem even from game, online & other java app forums for related java installation problems!)

Have you tried Java 1.6 beta. But for LW to use it you'd need to remove all other java versions before installing & running LW. http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version which is a 15.72 MB download

Oops looks like I was slow to post .... didn't see your previous post. :o

I'm having the same issues. I reinstalled LW and ^^^^^ this java ^^^^^. When I go to start LW it does the kitt thing (initializes everything in the small square box). then it shuts down without warning. i can't open any files through folders in my computer as that window shuts down. vlc player shuts down when i try to do a quick open file from the shared folder.

win xp if that helps

Your problem is not with any one piece of software but your whole installation, you will need to do a complete deletion, reformat and reinstallation of windows.

However, if this is beyond your capabilities then you will have to take your PC in for repair.

I would also suggest, if you take your machine in for repair, you get your motherboard (aka mainboard) checked out, there maybe something there causing your windows to shut down.

it's just lw and the items in it that are having problems. the rest of my pc is working fine. sorry if i wasn't clear, but every other progtam is working fine. also, i accessed a program after my post last night by going through 'my recent documents' . that program is only in lw and on top of that, i opened it with vlc player and it worked great.

Try posting more specific info on setup first. Please try to answer all the questions. Sorry for any repeat questions. Just copy paste this + your answers into a reply

1. What's your connection like - do you have any green bars at all?
Is there a brick wall in front of world ?

2. Do this test & see if it works. What does it say ?
http://www3.limewire.com:6346

3. What are your details

OS ? (Win XP, Mac OSX etc.)
How much free harddiskspace ?
How much RAM ?
LW & Java version ? (In Limewire press Help>about LW & you'll see)
What Firewall you're using ?
What Antivirus/spyware etc. ?
Modem/router brand & model ?
Are you using portforwarding, UPnP or nothing ? (Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config)
What is your listening port ? (Same as above)
ISP (Internet Service Provider) ?
Connection type ? (Dial-Up, ADSL, DSL etc) + Speed Up/Down if you know
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Has Limewire ever worked for you ? If so how long have you been using it ?

Have you tried using any other P2P apps & if so, do you have the same or similar problems ?

Describe the problem thoroughly.

here's a question. i was looking for my firewall stuff in the internet options and when i was scrolling down i saw the java 1.6 listed there. behind it it said "(restart required)". i did a restart on my computer and it still says that. is there another restart that i it talking about?

also, i passed the test in the link above.
