Limwewire will not run

I have used limewire in the past without a prob, but having not used it for about a month I now cant get it to open and run. I have uninstalled and downloaded the software at least 6 times but no joy. I am using XP and running AVG 7.5 with the firewall active. Windows firewall is turned off in the Windows Firewall general tab (although in the Security Centre window it shows it as on). There must be something I am not doing right!! but as I had it up and running ok I am a bit puzzled.

I am not PC 'bright', so simple pound shilling and gallons help and explanations would be gratefully appreciated.

Just been through the FAQ's and tried uninstalling and reloading Java and..... back up and running. so there was obviously a coruption in there somewhere.

Yes. In this forum select the second item down from "sticky", then select option (i), then select the second item in the "Starting Limewire and Connecting "and follow the instructions for redownloading Java. Hope that works, it has for me.

Go here PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall & set up a static ip first: Set up static ip first before port forwarding

This is best suggestion I can think of without these details: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

i am running windows vista, i do however think its not the system, rather the free versus the basic. my wifes pro works fine, but on two other computers of ours we run basic and both quit working at the same time, goes to load the startup html gets to 12% and then just stalls, pro works fine, cant see paying for 3 pros in the same house,
