Advice please

Ok i just got the new lime wire about 20 min ago. I downloaded new songs. Now with the old lime wire my song would automatically go into my "shared" file under my my name and i could then tranfer files from "shared" onto my itunes play list and then put them on my ipod. Well now that i have this new lime wire my songs no longer go into my "shared" file and i cannot put them on my ipod. Does anyone have any idea why this is not happening or that can tell me if there is a new way of doing it? I have Vista but have had it for a while so i dont think it should make a difference. Thanks for the help in advance :)

It should be easier with the new LW 5. Now, unlike previously with LW 4, you can set iTunes to automatically add the music files to it's music library immediately music has finished downloading. This should fix the problem of confusion of people who thought the LW playlist & libraries were iPod compatible.

I'm not using the windows version so you'll need to wait for someone like Birdy to come online & explain more & what's happening in your scenario. :)

Hi Jamie,

For some reason, songs downloaded with LW 5 don't show up in my shared 'LimeWire Tunes' any more (I'll check with whether this is a bug or a deliberate change by the developers).

I don't know how you were able to move files from that 'Shared LimeWire Tunes' playlist before... that list doesn't contain any music files & so you shouldn't have been able to move those files to another playlist or transfer to your iPod (I can't & I don't know anyone else who can):)

LW 5 can automatically add files to your iTunes now. In LW go tools > options > downloads. Tick the box to automatically add files to iTunes > click ok. Now when you finish a download, iTunes will open & you'll see the new file being added. Once the files are in your iTunes, you can add them to playlists or transfer them to your iPod.

If your LW stops automatically adding files to iTunes then reinstall LW. Mine did this the other day. But a reinstall fixed the problem for me.

Late edit - try going to LW's tools > options > downloads. Tick the box to automatically share files with the p2p network. Click ok. Restart LW & download a song - does it add to the 'your name's shared LimeWire tunes' playlist now?

Thank You

I dont know if my LW is messed up or i just suck at the whole computer thing but i folled your first instructions and my songs do not automatically transfer to Itunes. BUt never fear! I followed the "edit" directions and was able to find my new LW DLs and i can drag and drop them into itunes like i was able to do from my "shared" file (i swear i was able to do so) when i had the old LW.

Thank you so very much for your help!

Jamie
