hello from N9UNQ. file_girl71 picture is great. I am curious, about the LW pirate. Do's it just overwrite the LW version that I have now or is it set up as a new program? I have downloaded a different version to free downloads that I have been using since the October freeze on LW. That is Frostwire. I have had no problems but are there any clues out that this is a bad version? Thanx 4any reply. Rich (N9UNQ)
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.

If a windows user, you have two options, the regular LW Pirate Edition, or File_Girl's slightly different version of same program. She removed the AV which does not work for many people anyway, & added a different startup window.
The LPE works well, connects well. Has no legal warning in the main window when you first open. Support link is the Gnutella forum. lol :D
LPE connects to 5 Ultrapeers instead of 3, so in many ways operates like LW Pro.

* One thing I'd like to see changed in the LPE is the ban hosts option. It is far too close to the Browse Host option. A few times I've accidentally banned hosts when all I was wanting to do was browse them. oops!!! And with pseudo usernames instead of ip addresses, it's almost impossible to remove accidentally banned ip addresses because we don't know which are which.

The change I'd like to see is (a) the ban option moved to a different location. (b) have an option like Phex, where the default option is to only ban for session, only an advanced ban will give option of a permanent ban.

After all, so many spammers use dynamic ip addresses anyway.

* Bring back more information for information window for files being transferred. LW removed such details in LW 5.5 or 5.4 in an attempt to keep the anonymity of the users.

At first all was well with FileGirl's program. Now I'm getting down load speeds in the single kbs range. Yes single even when connected to multiple peers.

Any thoughts anyone?

Have you tried rebooting computer &/or restarting LW?

Have uploads also slowed down?

Do you show as firewalled (tools > advanced tools)?

What's your connection status (weak, medium, full, turbo)?

Do you only see slow speeds at certain times of day?

Try changing ports: In LW tools > options > advanced > listening ports. Change listening port to 65000, or something in the range of 49152 - 65535 > ok.

If you have port forwarding set up, you'll need to change the 'manual port forward' number > ok & then also change the forwarded port number within your router config.

And don't forget to also change the port allowed through your software firewall.

Problem persists through several reboots and restarts of Lime.

Time of day is irrelevent to the problem and I haven't looked at uploads.

I'm behind a firewall and support firewall transfers.

I have 5 bars showing.

I changed port to 65000.

I don't know how to change my software firewall but I'll look around.

I have one download working and no uploads. The download varies aroundd 20 kbs from 9 users.

Thanks for your help.

Tried searching for fresh hosts? ie: re-search each file that's slow. Generally, this has always worked for me for years. And 5 mins or more later using the Get More Results option.

Sounds like your software firewall or router is firewalling your LPE in part. Might need to add fresh exception for LPE. One way is go to your control panel, open up the firewall from there & use the Add option from the Exceptions tab window. I presume you are only using one software firewall & not two. Two software firewalls can cause issues, & may actually result in less security & not more due to their clashes. And may cause issues for LW.

Hi yummy....I mean Bo: Its sped up now that I've made the previously made changes but hardly turbo charged. But I'm on a hotel WiFi right now and its bouncing around a lot. I'll let it go as is until I can get this laptop on a hard wire.

Only one firewall and I'll try your suggestions if necessary. Thanks
