Okay, I am having issues with the installer. It runs fine until it begins to connect, at which point the message "This installation is corrupted. Please download and install LimeWire again." is displayed. I've searched all over, and I can't find anything to help. I'm running Windows XP. Anything else that you need to know, feel free to ask. I miss LimeWire. |
Have you tried File_Girl's installer, found on first page of this thread. ;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...tml#post359817. Try right-clicking installer & choose Run as Admin. This might help fix the issue. |
Her download link takes me to an expired page. |

I read that you think AVG is a "Useless pail of Crapp!", File_Girl71 . What other free antivirus program do you recommend? |
Hi all.. I am now rocking lwpe... loving it, would be nice to get rid of the intro screen. Luv it thanks so much I have added 10k shares.. should help the community. I think it is worth it to switch from older versions. Does the pirate edition tie into the old share network or is this one separate? |

LWPE connects to the same Gnutella network as ever :) |
I am using pe ver 5.6.2 Actually I got it frum Demonoid. I didn't know about this site at that time. No it is not the one by file girl though it is tempting to use that one. I am a little concerned that if I switch to that one, I may loose my settings. It is not super hard to set up, but does take time. I think they should have just called it "Limewire pe" with no pirates on the screen. When I first loaded it, I was concerned that I had loaded a virus or something. It is a little difficult for the average user to trust something that says pirate and has pirates on it. Feels like you are being hijacked or something. That aside.. seems to work fine though in my seeds I seem to get allot of "Invalid request" errors from downloaders.. I am assuming that it may have something to do with firewalls though I have opened a port for mine. |
I think the splash screen there is meant to be a bit of a joke. Years ago there was a video on youtube about LW & the splash screen seems to be a snapshot from that: YouTube - You are a pirate Yes you could lose your settings (though not your saved files, providing that you saved to a safe location & not within Program Files etc) if you switched versions. If you wanted to switch at any stage, you'd need to back up LW's preferences folder before switching & then replace the prefs folder with your backup, once you'd installed the new version. If you ever do want to switch, check out this thread for the location of LW's preferences folder & other important info regarding incomplete downloads: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...ng-should.html Important - if you ever want to replace the preferences folder, LW must be properly closed first. Check in Task Manager... if there's a LW process running, end the process. Replace the folder & then restart LW - your old preferences should be in place :) Quote:
You can check your firewall status within Tools > Advanced Tools. There you'll see whether you're behind a firewall & whether or not you support transfers. |
Thanks for the advice.. I'll look into that before I change to another ver. Not Torents..I use utorent for those. I really only use lime for music. I actually did that with the advanced tools to make sure my port forward worked. I believe it may be something on their end as most downloads are fine but certain users are having problems and their file requests are bad. Probably about 1 in 10 It is nothing I can fix as my side seems fine. I realize the splash screen is a joke.. my point was only that it is not confidence inspiring |
Finally the link to my LPE is updated and working...Enjoy if you like it!!!;) |
