Try installing into a different account see if that works. ;) I presume you have an intel mac then?

jeez louise

i have a mac osx. When they ask me where to install it...i put it in the picture of the computer..cause thats the only option i have. and its in there..but goes nowhere from in there, either.

Sorry, are you saying you are trying to drop the Limewire icon on to picture of the computer? That's not how you do it. You click on the picture of the computer to select it as the target of the installation.

I can promise there's nothing wrong with those installers :) I've used them all myself.

From the finder's GO menu, choose Applications, find the LimeWire you installed & open it from there.

I notice in your first posts on the forum 3 years ago you were using an iMac, is it a G5 or intel iMac? intel iMacs came out in 2006.

cozzete December 3rd, 2010 08:33 AM

I got it before 2006..so it must be a g5. i went to finders and did that and now i have two icons on my desktop..,one with an arrow and the other encased in a box. Neither go anywhere. Maybe i should shut down my computer...???

You will be unable to use the Pirate LW version on your version of iMac unless you upgrade to Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.

If you do not do that, then you are limited to LW 4 versions; found here.

Some gripes about LW 5:

1. I cannot believe the LW programmers were not aware or forward thinking enough to add the .m4v extension to video types of files. It's easy to say that's dumb now. In LW 4 & unless I'm mistaken some earlier versions of LW 5, users could add their own extensions. With LW 5.5 & Pirate version such .m4v files are categorised into the 'Other' types of files, with no information on them at all. I duplicated one video m4v file, changed the extension to mp4, and the hits became over 20,000 compared to the m4v version which had 60 hits in the 'Other' category both in 'shared' at same time from restart of LW. By changing the extension to mp4, QuickTime is unable to see the custom chapters (VLC can however.)

2. LW never re-added the Library description ability which LW 4 had. Nor did they return the option for extended tooltips. This was one of the major things that held me back from upgrading to LW 5 full-time. Try adding a description to a video file & see what happens. Nothing. Video files do include date & rating, but not much more. No actual custom description. Likewise for other types of files except mp3 & perhaps images. With LW 4 using the advanced description tool, you could add different kinds of descriptions to any file & even have the file multi categorised.

3. LW 5 does not accept less than 3 letter extensions in it's extension filter. Try filtering out .qt .. the only way to do it is to use the Keyword filter.

OH I forgot to say, whatever extensions are filtered in LW 5, are also removed from Shared. Example: if you filter out .mov, then any .mov files you are sharing are removed from Shared. That's a simple example. That's unless you use the keyword filter instead of extensions filter. This only applied to LW 5, not LW 4.
